Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

4th Annual NEFF WIZARD SLEEVE BASH

I really want to go. I'm considering driving up from Philly on Sat morn or Fri night and heading back Sunday afternoon.

I'm going to shoot at the local trap club Friday night and head up there Saturday morning... Plan is to stay up there till Tuesday...

Soooo close to pullin the trigger on a 10' #7 nrx though. I just can't make up my mind between a single or a switch.

buddie just got hooked up w/a Beulah #7 weight switch at tightlines Sun. I'm gonna play w/that before I make up my mind.

I wont trade my 10 for 7 Loomis GLX for the world. Its an awesome rod. I'm gonna be swinging flies too this trip so my weapon of choice will be my 11 for 8 native run.

9' 6/7 wt will be ok, you can make do. It wont be fun fishing bigger water, however.

Will be fishing DSR tomorrow. Everyone have a safe trip up and let me know if you need anything. Those bailing last minute, let me know so I can let hotel owner know.

Thanks guys see you soon!

EMoussa,

Let me know as I wasn't planning on it via your PM the other day. Well have room, just let me know to be sure.

I'll know by tomorrow afternoon whether or not I'll have a free weekend. Dont worry about the room situation I can find somewhere to crash if it comes down to it.

I acquired a GLX classic 10' 7wt recently myself, definitely a sick rod...unfortunately I snapped it on the west branch this spring.

Im heading up Thursday night. Was gonna grab a motel north of Syracuse but if anyone has extra room let me know...otherwise I'll be ready for first light on Friday morning

i'm 100%

i'll figure out my own rooming situation 'cause i might have a girl and a puppy tagging along.

can i get a complete newbs rundown on gear though??

what kind of tippet material/strength should i show up with??

what diameter beads??

what size hooks??

i have a 9 1/2 foot 8 WT...

Check out lynches indicator/leader post for starters.

Fat Nancy's opens at 3am so you can get what you need when you roll into town.

simms bead post covers size and colors.

owner sst's in 4 or 6 are the baddest mother fuckin hooks on the planet if your gonna bead.

Yea Lynch taught me the ropes on big Indy leaders...you can start out with 4-5' of 15lb, 4-5 12lb (this is the area your bobber slides and you'll need 1/2" and 3/4"), swivel (I've settled on the smallest spro swivels which are 35 lbs), then 3' of fluoro 6-10 lb(Drennan, seguar, etc are popular)
Also bring lead (multiple size non wingy shot in various sizes, this ain't your small creek rig)
For beads on a budget I suggest starting with orangish colors in 8mm
Your 9.5' 6 will get you by

I'm completely new to this as well. Would you guys recommend using beads for a first timer? I was thinking I was going to use a regular nymphing rig with whatever flies are reccommended and a strike indicator. Keep in mind I have zero time to prepare if I do make it up there.

Off tomorrow, heading up tonight. Anyone else leaving tonight and for those who are up there where do we meet for Fri morn.

Not much difference between rigging a bead and the nymph rigs your used to.

You guys better hurry up. Chris is catching all the fish. He's already posted like 50 pics of steelhead to Instagram.

Just arrived myself... Hmm I was kinda expecting half naked girls strung out on E to be hanging from the porch railing...

Hi folks!

Had to call it quits on Sunday to head back, not all of us work Drive-Thru's!!!

THursday:

Sneelhead, myself and his buddy fished DSR. Those swinging flies had a slow day. Those fishing beads, while not fast and furious, had a steady pick all day.

Friday:

Same line-up plus my dad and his buddy, fished mid river and plucked a few. Moved to staircase in the evening and had a good finish to the day.

Saturday:

Same line up plus Phil and Sun (Jim). Hit the upper fly zone and did very well in the morning. Some slobs came to hand. HIt lower river in the evening again and it was slow.

Sunday:

Headed back to boston.

Heres the link to pics. Enjoy!
