Neff's 2nd annual steelhead bash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
Well Boys and Girls,
It’s that time of year, when we get a bit more relief from brutal night time temps and humidity that plague us during the summer. The sun now hits the horizon a bit earlier as we try to tie on our last BWO before we need to breakout the headlamp. Our freestoners will begin to receive the intermittent deluge of storms that will freshen up the current trickle that currently harasses what little trout life is left. Trout Fever will continue to keep UPS in business as he cranks out spey flies like it’s his job and we’ll all begin to dust off the long rods. The random king will enter the Salmon River and somehow make it to the hatchery. Yes, it’s almost CHROME SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!! That dime bright mammoth that quickly sizzles you down to backing as it performs one of the most beautiful acrobatic sessions you’ve ever seen before it even thinks about stopping. It’s what we all live for.
Fall marks the season that we think about the rest of the year. Beautiful fall colors are broken up by the huge purple dotted browns and bright medal heads. Atrocious language echoes down the unemployment line as the white boot crew drags out their limit of fading mudsharks and lashes them to the bumper of their 1984 minivan. Guides populate the river in their fancy drift boats pretending to own it and us die hard steelheaders are waiting for Columbus Day weekend to come and go so we may swing for chrome (hahahaha YEAH RIGHT, BOUNCE BEADS MOTHER FUCKERS) in somewhat peace. This also means NEFF’S 2[SUP]ND[/SUP] ANNUAL STEELHEAD BASH is approaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last year’s BASH was a major success. I just want to thank everyone who came and who brought food. I think it turned out very well and everyone always had a smile on their face and a beer in their hand, what more could you ask for? Chris was manning the grill, populated by RONBO wings and plenty of other food that was brought by NEFFERS. The weather was perfect and fishing was decent. This year will be different. It will be BETTER!
Ok, now pay attention.
This year’s 2[SUP]ND[/SUP] Annual STEELHEAD BASH will be taking place across Veteran’s Day weekend. I say across because some of us may have off that Friday while others Monday. Find out now, whatever you do. The dates, for you lazy fucks, is Saturday the 10[SUP]th[/SUP] and Sunday the 11[SUP]th[/SUP], 2012. I for one will be arriving EARLY Friday morning and leaving Sunday night. So, while were on this topic, I will now elaborate on LODGING.
I ask many of you to please book your rooms here as Im sure Dave and Sussie don’t just want one or two parties here and then the masses flood in at night. They as well as I would appreciate most everyone try to book here. There are plenty of rooms, you just can’t procrastinate. Rooms sleep anywhere from 4-6 people ringing in at 30 bucks a night(drops for Steelhead Season J ). CHEAP!!!! And MUCH MUCH MUCH cleaner than Stoney’s. BOOK ASAP!!!!!!!!
Cannon's Fishing Lodge: Pulaski New York: Fishing, Camping, Lodging, Snowmobiling
WARNING:
You may wake early one morning to a loud, blood curdling scream that will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Neighbor campers to us last year at the BASH thought a child was being molested or a pig being chased around just waiting to be slaughtered. Have no fear, it’s only BROUGH and his coyote call.
So, much like last year, I will take care of most of the breakfast. I’m going to need someone to step up and bring milk/orange juice/butter and cream cheese, though.
As for kitchenware, the easiest bet would be to bring paper towels/napkins and a huge box of paper plates and plastic ware. One can easily pickup said goods for under 30 bucks at Costco/Sam’s/or BJ’s…NO EXCUSES, so we need someone to step up for that task.
Other than that, ITS OPEN GAME! Food will not go to waste so what’s not eaten at lunch, will be eaten at dinner, and then moved to the next day’s lunch, ETC…
Please, I ask you, STEP UP!
OF COURSE I’m not asking you make home cooked meals, prepare for days prior, and ask for your mothers secret recipes, obviously, but I am asking you to bring enough for a few people. I don’t give a shit if it’s tube steaks and chicken nuggets. The weather will be cold, so anything warm and soothing will be fine!!!!! J Easy things to make/pick up is chili/stew/pulled pork/burgers and of course wings.
Again, we have access to a FULL KITCHEN with stove and microwave. So no worries about not being to heat stuff up. A crockpot dish is a great idea as you could plug it in for the day, set it on warm and when we get back for lunch or dinner, she’ll be ready!!!!!!
So please, when you know what you will be bringing, just shoot me a PM. Thank you folks.
As far as alcohol, were all grown men and I think we know how this should work. Everyone should bring a little of something, this way one does not feel guilty dipping their hand in another cooler, as long as other’s can have access to theirs. It’s a process of reciprocity.
Food structure will be AS FOLLOWS!!!
Breakfast at 530 am. Due to having access to the kitchen and what not, I’ll have breakfast ready at 530 and I will be on the river by 6. Those of you rolling out of bed at 7am, don’t think I’m waiting for you. I’ll be on the water at 6am. Help yourself/heat yourself up whatever is left.
LUNCH will be at noon.
And DINNER will be any time after 530 or when people get cold. I assume dinner, at least for those of us who are die hards, will be closer to dark, IF NOT dark…
Homebrew beer I’m sure will be brought, and I will be making a special fall concoction(“apple pie”), only made with the finest 195 proof grain alcohol out there.
I as I’m sure Lynch and Tobias will all have our boats up there. I am not speaking for them, but I would love to float anyone who wants to see the river at a different angle. A great way to explore new spots you can’t normally do by foot and the opportunity to CRUSH chrome. (yes, I mean coors too) If I had to guess, I would assume the other dudes wouldn’t mind either. Tobias just demands warm Keystone as payment and Lynch enjoy delicious IPA’s…(Shane, you can’t float with Lynch hahaha)
There it is folks, the basic layout of NEFF’S 2[SUP]ND[/SUP] ANNUAL STEELHEAD BASH! Obviously, dates on “meeting” times and other reminders will be posted as needed, but I think I have covered the basic structure of the bash. Again, please think about who you want to room with and what you will be bringing and PM ME and book your rooms ASAP.
Thank you!
Best,
Chris

LODGING
As you all know, last year’s bash location was a huge success however, it is not available to us this year. So, plan B has taken effect. This year’s bash will be held at CANNON’S PLACE on Rt. 48. It’s literally mid river and right over Pineville Bridge. It’s the perfect location. I know Dave and Sussie very well as I stay here all chrome/snowmobile season. Downstairs in the hotel is a MASSIVE common area with a huge kitchen as well as a bathroom/couches/tv etc. This will provide a break from the rain/snow/wind/cold temps that would possibly plague us. There is also access to a fire pit outside if the weather cooperates. There are grills on premises as well for RONBO WINGS!!!!!!! I ask many of you to please book your rooms here as Im sure Dave and Sussie don’t just want one or two parties here and then the masses flood in at night. FOOD!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, well, this is a very touchy subject, but for the most part, we nailed it last year. This is going to take YOU guys to step up to the plate and PM ME with what you will bring. FUCKING STEP UP AND PM ME! I will absolutely NOT TOLERATE anyone who shows up empty handed. I DARE YOU to show up empty handed. You thought I was a dick recently on here to Beetle? You aint seen shit! So, much like last year, I will take care of most of the breakfast. I’m going to need someone to step up and bring milk/orange juice/butter and cream cheese, though.

MISC
Besides the necessities, I ask some people to throw an extra “soccer” chair or two in their trucks to bring up. There will be plenty of us there so the more seats we have, the less we need to stand J Homebrew beer I’m sure will be brought, and I will be making a special fall concoction(“apple pie”), only made with the finest 195 proof grain alcohol out there.
