    Hancock crime wave !

If any of you guys have a weekend or seasonal home up in Hancock give a call to a neighbor to check up on your place. Since right before the end of the year quite a few seasonal homes, homes of full time residents ,businesses and cars have been broken into and robbed. The Bluestone Grill was...

    Effects of channelization ?

2.5 Inches of rain and the Beaverkill hits 7 feet high and the lower East Branch goes up to 12,000 cfs.It should not rise like that with this amount of rain. Is this the result of "cleaning up the tribs" ? What would happen if we get 4 or 5 inches of rain ? The result of the trib work is...

    confused about cfs flows

Right now the upper east branch has a flow of 181 cfs. The beaverkill has a flow of121 cfs. The stated flow on the lower east is 179 cfs. How can that be if the combined flow of the upper east and beaverkill, which both flow into the lower east, is 302 cfs. Is it possible that it is due to...

On the catskillsflies fishing report this morning they stated that the permit that allows Deposit to dump the chlorinated sewage into the west branch is good for two years.TWO YEARS !

    East Branch flow

I just checked the flow for the East Branch. It is down to 158 cfs. With the Pepacton full why isn't the flow at the agreed to minimum of 175 cfs ?

    River levels

The catskill river levels are dropping like a rock. In a day or two we will have low water conditions again. The 10 day forcast has very little rain in it. We need another soaker, and soon.

    Yo-Yo flows on East Branch

Does anyone know why they have dropped the flow on the upper East at night the last 2 days. During the day they bring it back up. I thought the flow plan was that it should not drop below 175 CFS.

    September 1st already !

I can't believe it is already Sept. My goodness, this season just flew by.(A sure sign of ageing). I have 6 weeks of fishing left before I hit the woods. The surface action can be good up to then, but after that it all depends on the weather. I hear some years fish rise until early November if the...

    WB flow

I see the West Branch is down to 271 CFS this afternoon. That's quite a drop from the weekend. I assume they ramped down in anticipation of heavy rain from Katrina, but the heavy rain missed the watershed by 150 miles. Do you guys think they will bring it back up by this weekend ?

    Dennis Watson ?

What the heck happened to Dennis Watson ? He was an interesting poster that gave great reports, intelligent insights and persuasive arguments. When the West Branch was low and hot this past June and July he posted that he was not going to fish this summer in deference to trout survival. It seems...

    Katrina may come our way

I was just looking at the 5 day graph for hurricane Katrina. The forcast puts it on the upper delaware watershed just before the Labor Day weekend. It dumped 15 inches of rain in some parts of south Florida. The non tailwater rivers could use some water , but even if it drops 5 to 10 inches of...

    Big release

Does anyone know why we are getting this huge release suddenly ? Is it coming from the habitat bank , river master release for Monteque , or a result of this latest meeting ? It sure is either feast or famine. We could have used just a small amount of this water the last few weeks. Mind you ...

    Let's fish for smallmouth

Hey guys just an idea. How about we fish for smallmouth on the Main stem or lower East until flows improve. I know it's not quite the same as rising trout but it will keep your fly rod in your hand this summer, they rise to surface flies and we will do no harm to the stressed out trout. They are...

    Waters cooling

Looks like water temps have dropped down into the comfort range on even the non tailwater rivers.Nightime temps in the upper forties forcast for the next few nights in the Hancock area. Yeah ! We can all spread out again.

    Upper East Branch report April28th

Was on the upper E.B. yesterday afternoon. Lots of wind, some rain, sun, and rainbows in the distance. A pretty raw day. Water was pretty high which made for tough wading. Light hatch of red quills and blue quills where I was. Saw 4 or 5 rises. No fish for me. I hope we don't get to much rain this...
