River levels

EB WADER

Master Baiter
The catskill river levels are dropping like a rock. In a day or two we will have low water conditions again. The 10 day forcast has very little rain in it. We need another soaker, and soon.

Lad's you looking at this all wrong.

Walk the banks and look for the "new" deep pools in the stream caused by the winter floods. Use this time to get to know your streams better. The rain will come and the streams will once again be close to normal and you will have used your time wisely.

You've certainly got it right. While the water is low, the runs have turned into productive riffles, and the rocks you couldn't see a month ago are now prime holding water. The stream is constantly evolving, and it should be a pleasure to fish the same water differently every time you go. Until the stream goes totally dry, there are fish to be had and challenges to overcome. If the stream was forever constant, we'd all be dunking worms in the same pool by now!
