4th Annual NEFF WIZARD SLEEVE BASH

this......

Lets be real- fishing has been mediocre at best all season. Bigger then average fish are around, but the bite has been very inconsistent aside from a couple hot weeks in the DSR when some big steel came in during october/early november. Upper river has been a joke with pressure and the fishing shows it. Lower river has been tough with no major runs and fish just trickling in. Crazy air/water temp shifts havent helped either. I've heard it all from the shops including (1) barometric pressure (2) need some clouds (3) need some sun to warm up the water (4) runoff (5) fishing pressure. Very few days have been the day to be there this year

Excuses...excuses.....

The only way im going back up, atleast if the Deerfield is still popping, is:

1. The chick from Stefano's changes her yogas pants
2. Someone will float the UFZ with me.

My two November weekends were very productive and while I have only logged 4 days on the water so far I have a few fish landed that are larger than average (over 10#) plus days with plenty of hookups and fish landed/played. Yes the upper river is crowded but if you play nice with people its not bad and I dont fish the popular spots all that much anyways. You are either making excuses or catching fish! I prefer the latter.

to each his own my friend. last year was something else! river was on fire top to bottom from October 17th on. still plenty of catching and some big fish around this year but all in all its been a grind relative to what it was. guides will attest

I also love when people try to act like there are spots that don't get pressure on the upper river, or even worse the fly zones. Typically these are people that think hitting the Lfz from the least crowded bank is being adventurous or walking down to the lowest part of the upper flyzone/fishing the side channel is bush wacking. Upper river is crowded and the same old holes are producing but crowded as hell since fishing has been awful in the "b" water this year and no major runs this year. After a tough cpl days floating we hit upper fly last weekend and landed 10 fish all in 10lb range or more. Fun for a while yes- but nothing matches the thrill of hooking a fish down river where u don't expect it to happen every 30 min. Similar analogy being the pequest hatchery stretch- fun for a while but do u really respect that 24" fish standing 50 yards from the hatchery ? Everyone but our state record fish market poacher u guys roasted should now nod yes
