4th Annual NEFF WIZARD SLEEVE BASH

My dad saw that nice move you pulled when you found your walking stick loll

Fuck that, water was too cold.

You, Phil n Don definitely made the case for steppin up to a switch rod though.

Watching you guys work water was very convincing.

Headed to tightlines in a little while to pull the trigger.

Good man!

You'll be happy!

Keep in mind you don't want to high stick days on end with a switch unless your Arnold as it DOES get heavy... but for the short bursts of high sticking and the ease of chucking skagits, its a no brainer! If im going to be on the water for more than a day or two ill revert to my 10' rods...

Seriously consider the 10'6'' HARDY if you don't think youll be chucking Skagit lines and what not.. It still considered a one-hander.

1. It's gay to own those socks
2. It's more gay to wear those socks
3. You're the equivalent to the whole gay bar for having a photo collection of you wearing those socks!!!

You crossed right below me the 1st time and right to me the second time after I had lost a fish I chased down the chute.

Sorry if I fucked you up. I deliberated for a while before taking the plunge. It seemed to be the only place to cross and there was no real estate on that near bank.

I also lost a fish in the fast water just below there early that morning.

No you didn't screw me up. I thought about stopping you and telling you where to cross up above but I've crossed there before and figured you probably weren't gonna die even though you were way to close to that chute.

Not long after you left I did a suicide run across that same spot w/my rod over my head and a fish screaming down the wrong side of that chute. I still had him on running across the rock wall to the second drop before he wrapped a boulder and almost cost me all my fly line.

Fish are gonna kill me yet...

That hurt.

Ill be on the water tomorrow w/Andrew from tightlines breaking her in.

NICE WORK! Too bad its a Lamson though!

GALVAN or NAUTY FOR THE WIN!

SICK STICK THOUGH!

#CHROME

Hatch 5+ was too small 7 was a little too big. Evo was lacking in line capacity so that left me w/2 lamson choices.

The litespeed gets high marks for aesthetics and god is it light, but I am worried about durability...

I'm not busting your balls man, but the Lamsons that I have been around haven't held up for more than a season with heavy usage. They just cant withstand the torture. Id seriously consider a new reel.

My galvans and nautiluses are seriously TOW TRUCKS. and WICKED LIGHT. Ask Don, he just snagged an NV. Beauty reel.

My t-10 on my switch and spey rods is fucking heaven.

What are you throwing, a Skagit Switch head?

My only pre-advice is when you go out today, do everything much slower than you are used to in casting a fly rod. But I'm sure Drew will make that point.
As far as the reel goes, too light my be a negative when Skagit casting. Even high sticking will tend to put more strain above your hands. But only you will be able to judge that for yourself.

It's an easy sell. I'll make the switch to nautilus today.

The very first thing he taught me yesterday was to slow down. Chuckin a 420 gr scandi compact.

I love my Nautilus and haven't had an issue with mine at all. As for the konic reels aside from durability issues with my Konic reel was that it had too much of a gap between the spool and reel which has caused my running line to get ruined.

Eventually look into getting a Airflow Rage head for that stick if you plan on swinging flies. The rage head will be able to handle Poly leaders as well as T-14... Compact scand is great for poly leaders up to T-10.

Exactly. I saw two Lamson's cut fly line right in half due to machining

Speaking of fly line, I'm still waiting to get a more detailed story from Phil about how his fly line detached from his backing.

Spent two hrs on the water w/Andrew.

you shouldn't be allowed to even buy these rods w/o that lesson! Man can that guy make fly line move.

I had a basic understanding playing around w/most of these casts on single hand rod but learning from him definitely jump starts the process.

TCR's were fast. I think the TCX was a great improvement. If you're stuck on Sage, check ebay for Sage VXP rods. There is both a 7100 & 896 from a Sage rep with warranty at prices too good to pass up on for a Sage with warranty. Although the VXP & TCR have little in common. A Sage Flight would be an good economical choice in 10' 7wt.

10' 7wts are perfect for the SR. However, you might find a 9'6" 8wt more versatile for throwing poppers to bass, fishing saltwater, streamer fishing big rivers, etc..

That's the perfect one hander for steelhead.

If you plan on swinging too, go 11+ 8 wt...

I need to catch one first before attempting alternative methods. Found a pretty sweet deal for the sage (at least I think) at $175.

Now I need to find a reel to balance it out. Do you guys typically use larger reels as a counter-weight to the extra length?
