Whats OBAMA Stand For

Agreed FishsEddie, the thread was started with a joke, then I referrred to Obama as "mooly", in another joke, and Macfly got his panties in a twist and got more worked up than Barney Frank at a male review.:) Whether humorous or not, it was a joke and should have been perceived that way.

All the rhetoric, whether he was born here or not, whatever. I just think he's an arrogant asshole, thats right, asshole, for:

1) Passing bills that most of us don't want and talking down to us like we're idiots.
2) Taking more money out of my pocket, as if I'm not paying enough already.

Thats just the top of my list. Yea I know I'm not supposed to bad mouth El Presidente, but I believe the first amendment of the constitution that everyones been fighting about here to gives me that right.

I hear you but in this racially charged, Tea Party, Tea Baggin, everyone hates Barrack cause he is Black, you are all ignorant and uneducated, socialist, communist, marxist climate we live in I really hope we can elevate our game beyond these types of statements whether meant in jest or otherwise :) But thats just me.

See, here's where these threads all run astray...Macfly, I very much respect your opinions. I've never met you, but you seem like a thoughtful person who just believes something different for me.

Then the old "he wasn't born in America" lines are trotted out, and it all just gets frustrating beyond belief. It's similar to the leftist "W knew about 9/11" thing.

What's funny is that I bet Trouser Trout and I would really get along in real life. We both love fly fishing, we both (presumably) come to this board for info and conversation about fishing in this area.

This is precisely why I don't like these type of posts. They create divisions that are not necessary. We can all get our joneses for political discourse on other sites. Why do it here?

Hey I will fish with anyone that has a driftboat and doesnt mind if I take lousy pictures of their fish:)

Why not put, "In Muhammed we Trust" or "In the Name of Allah".. How would that make you feel?

Psssttttt....Allah is just the arabic word for God. Muhammed is their profit. Technically speaking Christians and Muslims have the same god, just the muslims don't believe Jesus is a child of God. I think that's how it goes. Also, last time I checked this country was founded on Christian beliefs, not Muslim beliefs.

If people don't agree with the beliefs of our founding fathers and they way our country was supposed to be run, then you are more than welcome to leave. No one is stopping you. Go join the rest of the globalists in Europe.

Heck most of you probably don't even care that Mccain and his cohert Lieberman are trying to pass a bill that will allow the US to detain Americans without a fair trial for being considered "enemy beligerants" of the US. At this point all your rights are out the window, and they define what an "enemy beligerant" is. But, then again, some of you are to concerned with the next eppisode of your favorite reality t.v. show to really care.

Of course Allah is just another name for God. I feel it should be considered for use on currency. Why discriminate? How about placing "Xenu" on our coins?

Scientologists (Operating Theton, Level 7 or OTIII) believe the alien leader, Xenu, from a galactic federation... Collected the renegade aliens or "Thetons", put them on DC-8's (with rocket engines) and ...sent them to earth. ~Go get'em Tom Cruise!

If people don't agree with the beliefs of our founding fathers and they way our country was supposed to be run, then you are more than welcome to leave. No one is stopping you. Go join the rest of the globalists in Europe.
Now here is a lesson for you:

"When the government puts its imprimatur on a particular religion it conveys a message of exclusion to all those who do not adhere to the favored beliefs. A government cannot be premised on the belief that all persons are created equal when it asserts that God prefers some." Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun. You also might want to check out the First Amendment.

Now tell me again about how our country was supposed to be run. There is no place for God in our court rooms on our currency or elsewhere (government agencies, etc...) keep god in the home and the holy places, and if you're someone who likes to say a prayer in Wendy's before you chomp down on your chicken nuggets, go for it.

I'll also remind you that our founding fathers believed that every white man was entitled to slaves. Then again, slavery is promoted very heavily in the bible. Here's one instance of many:

Colossians: 3:22 - Slaves, obey your human masters in everything, not only when being watched, as currying favor, but in simplicity of heart, fearing the Lord.

The bible also encouraged beating your children to death:

PSALM 137:9 - Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock.

It's so easy for some to say, "if you don't like it, move to another country."

One correction Decaberle, because something is mentioned in the bible does not have to mean it is encouraged. Jesus came here to save us from our own sins, when asked what were the two most important commandments of all he replied, that we love God and love our nighbors as ourselves. Whether someone is a believer or not, these ideals are the guiding principle for most people, and if everyone lived by them we would have very few societal problems. I am also confident that you follow at least one of these commandments as well, if you realized where it came from maybe you would then follow both.:)

Lets not interject religion into the discussion. Dennis asked a valid question about whether our currency should be engraved with religious statements. You could have a valid debate on this point without telling folks they have to leave the country. The first amendment states the following.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Ctobias no where in that statement does it say if you dont believe in X religion get the hell out of the country. That is a ridiculous statement. You need to respect the fact that there are citizens in this country that do not believe in a particular faith (agnostic) and there are citizens who choose not to believe in any religion (atheist). Assuming they are obeying all the laws and regulations in our country who are you to say get out. You want to be taken seriously than debate on the merits of your ideas and the weakness of your opponents ideas. There are plenty of policy debates one could have and religion would not factor into any of it.

I would not want anyone to criticize my beliefs and I am not about to tell anyone else what they should believe..full stop. This thread has officially gone off the reservation and should be moved to the circular file:)

Anyhow, just curious for anyone interested... Let's see where you stand. The red dot is where I am.

The Political Compass - Test

(Some joke this turned out to be!)

I took the test. Interesting. My dot was eerily close to yours; not just in the same neighborhood, but if I drank four beers quickly and waited a few minutes, if I looked at our graphs side by side, I'd probably guess they were the same.

Maybe I should have had the four beers BEFORE I took the test...

That's a copout and would lead me to believe that anyone feeling this way, uses the bible when it's convenient for them. If it was written in the bible, it's surely meant to be encouraged (especially when it's mentioned hundreds of times through-out) unless of course you're telling me that the bible is a bunch of little stories and you get to pick and choose the ones you want to abide by?

FDA to take a look at Salt Content

By Lyndsey Layton
updated 4:55 a.m. ET, Tues., April 20, 2010

The Food and Drug Administration is planning an unprecedented effort to gradually reduce the salt consumed each day by Americans, saying that less sodium in everything from soup to nuts would prevent thousands of deaths from hypertension and heart disease. The initiative, to be launched this year, would eventually lead to the first legal limits on the amount of salt allowed in food products.

The government intends to work with the food industry and health experts to reduce sodium gradually over a period of years to adjust the American palate to a less salty diet, according to FDA sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the initiative had not been formally announced.

Officials have not determined the salt limits. In a complicated undertaking, the FDA would analyze the salt in spaghetti sauces, breads and thousands of other products that make up the $600 billion food and beverage market, sources said. Working with food manufacturers, the government would set limits for salt in these categories, designed to gradually ratchet down sodium consumption. The changes would be calibrated so that consumers barely notice the modification.
Story continues below ↓advertisement | your ad here

The legal limits would be open to public comment, but administration officials do not think they need additional authority from Congress.

"This is a 10-year program," one source said. "This is not rolling off a log. We're talking about a comprehensive phase-down of a widely used ingredient. We're talking about embedded tastes in a whole generation of people."

The FDA, which regulates most processed foods, would be joined in the effort by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which oversees meat and poultry.

Alarm over huge increase in salt intake
Currently, manufacturers can use as much salt as they like in products because under federal standards, it falls into the category deemed "generally recognized as safe." Foodmakers are merely required to report the amount on nutrition labels.

But for the past 30 years, health officials have grown increasingly alarmed as salt intake has increased with the explosion in processed foods and restaurant meals. Most adults consume about twice the government's daily recommended limit, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Until now, the government has pushed the food industry to voluntarily reduce salt and tried to educate consumers about the dangers of excessive sodium. But in a study to be released Wednesday, an expert panel convened by the Institute of Medicine concludes that those measures have failed. The panel will recommend that the government take action, according to sources familiar with the findings.

Although the specifics of the government's plans have not been made public, the food industry has been bracing for a federal initiative.

"We're working on it voluntarily already," said Melissa Musiker, senior manager of science policy, nutrition and health at the Grocery Manufacturers Association. In recent months, Conagra, Pepsico, Kraft Foods, General Mills, Sara Lee and others have announced that they would reduce sodium in many of their products. Pepsico has developed a new shape for sodium chloride crystals that the company hopes will allow it to reduce salt by 25 percent in its Lay's Classic potato chips.

'Disaster for the public'
Morton Satin, director for technical and regulatory affairs at the Salt Institute, which represents salt producers, said regulation "would be a disaster for the public." He said that the science regarding sodium is unclear and that consumption does not necessarily lead to health problems.

"If you consume a lot of salt, you also get rid of a lot of salt -- it doesn't mean it's an excess," he said. "I want to make sure they're basing this on everything that is in the scientific literature, so we don't end up being guinea pigs because someone thinks they're doing something good."

Michael Jacobson of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, which first petitioned the FDA to regulate sodium in 1978, said voluntary efforts by industry are laudable, "but they could change their minds tomorrow. . . . Limiting sodium might be the single most important thing the FDA can to do to promote health."

In January, New York City launched a campaign against salt, urging food manufacturers and chain restaurants to voluntarily reduce sodium by 25 percent in their products nationwide over the next five years. Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago and the District are among a list of cities supporting the New York initiative.

A recent study by researchers at Columbia and Stanford universities and the University of California at San Francisco found that cutting salt intake by 3 grams a day could prevent tens of thousands of heart attacks, strokes and cases of heart disease.

77 percent comes from processed foods
Most salt eaten by Americans -- 77 percent -- comes from processed foods, making it difficult for consumers to limit salt to healthy levels, experts say.

"We can't just rely on the individual to do something," said Cheryl Anderson, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health who served on the Institute of Medicine committee. "Food manufacturers have to reduce the amount of sodium in foods."

Reducing salt across the food supply will be a massive and technically challenging project. Although many artificial sweeteners have been discovered, there is no salt substitute.

Humans have an innate taste for salt, which is needed for some basic biological functions. But beyond flavor, salt is also used as a preservative to inhibit microbial growth; it gives texture and structure to certain foods; and it helps leaven and brown baked goods.

Gary K. Beauchamp, a psychobiologist and director of the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, said salt also provides another, less understood quality. "It gives something that food people refer to as 'mouthfeel,' " said Beauchamp, who also served on the Institutes of Medicine committee. "For some soups, for instance, it's not just the salty taste -- sodium makes the soup feel thicker."

Exceptions? Taste?
Policymakers will have to decide whether to exempt inherently salty foods, such as pickles, while mandating changes in other products to reduce the overall sodium levels in the food supply.

Above all, government officials and food industry executives say, a product with reduced salt must still taste good, or it will flop in the marketplace, as evidenced by several low-sodium products that had abysmal sales.

"Historically, consumers have found low-sodium products haven't been of the quality that's expected," said Todd Abraham, senior vice president of research and nutrition for Kraft Foods. "We're all trying to maintain the delicious quality of the product but one that consumers recognize as healthier.

Next week we will see if we can reduce the amount of the creme filled center in an Oreo Cookie..you know because we care:)

Not if you're a Jew.

He came to save everyone. Remember Jesus came as a Jew, probably explains the large nose in the paintings. Which reminds me, do you know why jews have such large noses??? Because the air is free. Also, if you are a Christian you follow the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament. No picking or choosing. So tell us what you believe?

If you studied any bit of history, you would realize it was liberty and and justice for some. the some being white males. that was their intention. women and anyone non-Caucasian would not have fallen under this.

however, through progressive ideas (mostly radical) more rights to more individuals were given.

and as for no notion of our founding fathers. to obtain citizenship in this country you are required to take somewhat of an american history test. although, it may be not that difficult, i think they have a notion.

for the comment about the country being tailored to their beliefs. What are you doing? asking everyone to tailor their beliefs to what you believe? completely contradictory.

keep an open mind, your parents or parents of your parents, or even parents of your parents parents had once immigrated here. Il take the shot in the dark and say that when they arrived here there were people like you back then who thought the same things you did about this latest forum poster.

There are many that have come here from elsewhere. When those who come here will fight for this country and give their lives then you have earned a right to stand up. Many have done this many have not.

No one will ever understand my real meaning to this unless you know me. Only a few here do I call friends and would understand what I'm saying if they ask.

I personally would like to see his birth records. None have been produced that I know of.:finger:

Wow has this thread gone all over the place!!

So lets see how many folks I can piss off:

1. The English parliamentary system of government is older then ours.
2. Yes this thread has gotten nuts, but if you don't like it; don't read it, or have Tom remove you from the opt in section.
3. The State of Hawaii, has never released Barry's birth certificate, they released a letter saying he has one, BIG Difference!
4. He used his step fathers name on college applications, and other official documents, yet when he applied for his law license, stated he never used a AKA, so he committed perjury...Clinton lost his law license for perjury.
5. The last six months of Bush's Presidency was caught up in the global economic turn down, and Barry has only made it worse.
6 JC was born a Jew and died a Jew, the Christian religion didn't really start until St. Paul came into the picture.

OK start hitting back...

The State of Hawaii has released President Obama's birth certificate, and Tom runs a website called Garden State Trout.

I haven't really given politics much thought as of the past few years. All politicians are crooks and are out there only for themselves (IMHO). Whether you're a democrat in office or a republican in office, you are reaping the benefits that every civilian could only dream of (while on our dime). Your pensions are a disgrace (we pay for those too), and you're all liars.

I thought Bush was a tool and the only thing I know of regarding Obama is this health care thing. Bush sent our cash to Iraq, Obama is keeping it home. Both were involved with government bailouts.

Anyhow... I hate talking politics. I used to read the newspaper cover to cover every day. Now I'm totally ignorant. Either way, my paycheck at the end of the week will keep going down in one form or another.

I thought the birth certificate thing was interesting so I went and looked myself.

There are many other photo's available, all with the same information on them. He looks legitimate to me but hey... We never really landed on the moon either, did we! It's all a conspiracy!

Ohhh, who's this Tom guy. This thread is in an open forum, not a private one. ;)

Sorry but this is not a copy of his "Birth certificate", it is a cerification of live birth which was released years after his birth and doesn't match in any way "birth certificates" which others who were born in the same month received, why is this?:)

St. Peter is credited with starting the first Christian church, not Paul, who was actually quite the hellion before he found Christ. Paul prior to becoming an apostle, was known as Saul of Tarsus, who delighted in persecuting followers of Christ.

I didn't realize there was a difference. Now I'm going to check mine to make sure I'm legit.

Pay close attention to the following Hawaiian legal statute:
“[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State.
(a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.
(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.
(c) The fee for each application for registration shall be established by rule adopted pursuant to chapter 91. [L 1982, c 182, §1]”
Everybody get that?
As long as an adult can walk into Hawaii’s version of the Department of Records and provide proof that they are a legal resident of Hawaii, the document is issued.
The child, on the other hand, could have been born in Hawaii, Kenya, or a back-alley in Budapest.
How much more proof do you disciples of the Messiah need before you will admit that there are legitimate reasons to demand answers on this issue?
Of course the fact that Obama may have been elected to our nation’s highest office in direct violation of the United States Constitution is not something that would greatly trouble a dedicated Kool-Aid drinker.

Of course I realize that I can never prove one way or another whether he was or was not eligible to run for the U.S. Presidency based on his birth records, but the free pass that he was given on this subject by all of the major media outlets although there are very real and inadequately answered questions which were never answered by the President himself leaves me to continue to be skeptical of his birth status.

Another question...... what do Barrack Obama and Osama bin Laden have in common?????? They both have friends who bombed the Pentagon..... True but, not funny......

Well, whichever it was, all I can say is that I enjoy their Peppermint Pattie more than their other endeavors(well, except maybe for thier Mounds bar...)
