Old Photo by Dennis Cabarle

Trout,striper and grouse hunter
Many moons ago I was fishing with some buddies at Stockport. I had fooled a nice rainbow and was fighting it when a drift boat passed and one of the drifters had a camera in his hand instead of a fly rod. I recall him taking photos as he passed slowly by. I'm not sure if we exchanged any greetings. At that time I had never heard of this site. Some time passed when I joined the site and was looking at some photos posted by this Dcabarle character. Low and behold there I was catching the rainbow. My friend Bucky was to my right and in the middle was this fellow from Pennsylvania named Hank whom we had met that day. After I contacted this fine Photographer, he graciously sent me a hard copy of the photo which I will always cherish since my friend Bucky passed suddenly in 2018. He was one hell of a Fly tier and great Mentor to me. This Dennis character with the camera invited me to drift the river with him which I did the following year. We had a great day and I will never forget his generosity in letting me in his boat and doing most of the rowing that day into evening.

Re: Old Photo by Dennis

Man that was a long long long time ago! Sorry to hear about your friend. You sent me one of his streamers which I still have sitting on my desk! I'm going to take a picture of that when I get home and post it in this thread.

Nice to see you're still around.

P.S. Not sure why your post wound up in an admin queue. Strange, I'll have to check that out.

Re: Old Photo by Dennis

I’m not trying to be rude, but I am wondering about your use of the words “died suddenly” to describe the demise of your friend Bucky in the picture. Lower right of frame?

I’m not sure there’s anything that happened “suddenly,” since it looks like it took over 90 years by the looks of the old codger.

Just sayin’...

I believe you when you say you are not trying to be rude....it appears that it comes naturally.
