New TV purchase this week

LyNcH

Dries, wets, nymphs and streamers...it's all good!
I have been working a room in the basement for awhile now which will be the family/fly tying/rod building room. It's been a long project in the making and carpet finally goes in Monday. I'll post a couple pics in a few days. When we did the house, I had a 10' foundation built with an I-beam running the length of the house to lesson the amount of lally columns so the room would be open. I still have to do the bathroom (studded and wiring complete).

I have been waiting and waiting to buy a new TV and I think the time has finally come. I have been eyeballing a Sharp Quattron 60" LED since last summer and have been watching the price come down and down and come Tuesday, the price will drop again. I hope to pick it up Wednesday. Direct TV comes on 1/30/12, I'm sick of Timewarner's increasing bills and can't wait to have whole home DVR without the crazy cost.

Here's what I will be buying.

LC-60LE832U, 60" Class LED LCD TV, Quattron quad pixel Technology | Sharp Electronics

Sounds nice Lynch. I have nice new RCA console in a sweet cabinet, also be careful of direct TV i have it and it aint that reliable.

Thanks for the heads up. What problems have you experienced with them? My buddy has been with them for 10 years and the folks now for about 4 and they love it. It took me awhile to decide to make the move and I've talked with several people about their experiences and they have all been positive so I am curious what issues to look out for. The satellite will have a clear unobstructed "view" to the stars.

Extra charges for HD receivers, additional charges for each tv, and I get sporadic service with an unobstructed view, every time it snows or rains heavily my service is interrupted, as we speak i am waiting for a service tech to come over on monday to figure out why i am not getting some chanels including 5 which will be the Giant game tomorrow.

The biggest problem I have is very tall rain clouds. It's weird, it can be down pouring but fine. But it can be very dark out with no rain, the directv goes out, and then bam the mother of all rain. You can also get an over the air receiver that integrates into your receiver if it's that much of a bother.

Have one of your friends give you their account # when you sign up. You'll each get $100 credit.

I still like mine way better than my cable. I got it for College game Plan.

Wow, no Giants game?!?! That is a problem! Uh-oh, I'm watching the game at my buddies house on his Direct TV tomorrow.

Here is the package that I have ordered, no charges for any hardware. As with any cable/satellite company, I am being charged monthly for the 2nd receiver.

A co-worker and I did the refer-a-friend thing, the additional $10 off a month for 10 months will be nice

I think cable companies charge per subscriber anymore not by receiver since mostTV's are cable ready. Also what will your additional charge per month be for each HD receiver?

$6 a month for the 2nd receiver.

Timewarner charges for additional receivers, which is the only cable option I have. I'm going to bump down to roadrunner lite as well. The download speed is still around 768 Kbps, enough for streaming.

The options that direct TV gives you are amazing. I'm just not a big TV guy, I doubt you are either.

i have directv and as some have mentioned, rain and snow will affect your reception although directv will tell you otherwise.

I have direct tv an love it..comcast service sucked so did rcn, ill never go back.also if you do a lil searching you can get some tv programming free ,might have to build yer own tv antenna that will work infinitely better than the ones available , when my ol tvs go it will be a 42" vizeo flatscreen for me an a bose surrond lifestyle with them lil jewelcube speakers
