Good Morning boys,
With Irene pounding us here in Massachusetts, today will not be filled with 10-2 casts and explosive rises on size 2 hoppers, so I will write a report from yesterday.
Sh4ne87 called my Friday and told me he would heading up to massachusetts to see me and hopefully get some fishing in. With the recent delivery of my new catacraft, I said HELL YES!!! A little leary about the pending hurricane, he made it here Friday night.
Friday night was filled with cpoious amounts of beer, needless to say, our 430am alarm was "snoozed" a dozen or so times.
Finally after throwing the boat in the truck and a quick trip to Dunkins, we were on our way to the Deerfield River. We arrived and quickly got set up. This was the first time I would be the oarsman in a catacraft so I was excited yet a tad nervous.
We pushed off the launch and made our way to the center of the river where Shane quickly hooked into a fricken SLOB of a brown. I tried to back paddle to shore to help him land it but it got off...
Oh, did I forget I FORGOT my anchor? LOL With the water up a 1,000cfs, it was difficult to say the least to put Shane on a spot for more than a cast or 2...STUPID ME. No sense in being stupid unless you can prove it once in a while!
We fished some greatw ater and picked at them all the way down to the take out. With TONS of tubers and whitewater rafters, trying to hold in a spot was impossible, as everyone was constantly bombarding us...
Once Irene passed and they stop releasing water, next weekend will be INSANELY good...Now, do I go back to the deerfield, or head over to the Salnmon River? decisions decisions...
Enjoy the pics!!!
