Barbless Hooks save lives
Hey guys. i Pormised you id get a report out by tonight. Sorry I couldnt get one up earlier but I was out at the region 5 wrestling tournament at HC. Today was very solid. First time at the musky this winter actually. Fished from 11:30-3:00.
Started at the bridge right at Point mountain TCA and got two right away on a #20 disco midge(red). Both hit at the end of the drift, as if it were suspended in the current. Around 12:30 i switched to a #14 dry Black stone fly with a #18 PT dropper and had 2 bows rise on the dry, which was very exciting, but nothing landed. I switched to a # 10 root beer bugger with a #18 PT dropper at 1:00 and did quite well. 4 bows on this pattern, 1 on the bugger and 3 on the PT. The one on the bugger was 17 inches. I think that the bugger just acts as a good weight for the PT when you swing it. They were hitting th PT like they would an emerger. Big splashed but not top water. Also, I was not catching the fish in the boring slow water today, but in eddies and stronger currents just under rocky runs.
O...and did anyone else see that mink running up and down the bank today. Odd animal it is.
