Fishing report!!!!!!!! 3/22/2011

Good evening ladies, gentlemen, and tainted insects,

Today I was able to get out on two different rivers after I concluded my research at the Worcester Law Library...
The first river I visited was one of my favorite smaller rivers in the state. Its extremely beautiful and normally holds a large number of wild trout. Unfortunately, this river was reduce to a mere trickle due to the horrid summer we experienced, so I was banking just to hit that river for a walk and some nice scenery, not expecting any trout. To my suprise, in a deep cut, I pulled this REALLY dark native out on a size 18 green caddis pupa. This was the only fish I managed to bring to hand in this river.

So I then packed up and moved a short distance down the road to the tailwater fishery (hint hint) I fished the other day...Today, I tried the COMPLETE opposite tactics...HUGE, UGLY, STREAMERS!!!!!! And man, did it pay off!!! And, and with this, I decided to take the new LOOMIS czech nymph rod with me, for its second outing...Yes, a 10' NYMPH rod, for chuckin' and duck'nnn..(is that ok with you ctobias?) its rated as "extremely fast"...And holy HELL, can this thing CHUCK!!!!!

Anyway, I tied on a size 8 OLIVE dumb-bell eyed bugger with a size 16 copper john trailer...Was fishin out and across...This loomis 10' czech nymph rod is one rocket launcher...It prob had to do with the GPX sharkskin as well, but wow, just a flick of the tip and that bugger rig FLEW!!!!!! Water was 38 degrees today and pretty clear!
I also got to try out my new net...I always nets were cumbersome and just ANNOYING on the river, but after today, I wont leave the house too many times without it. makes handle fishing easy and its less strenuous on them. Having a ruler in the net too is a plus...but it prevents story inflation... haha
Anyway, here are the fish I landed today on the Olive bugger/CJ. Never switched flies, never needed too...
Enjoy!!!!
Had to picture the new rig.. 10' and galvan t-4..Thank you to the fellow fisherman who snapped this pic for me!!!

It started to sprinkle a little, so I had to throw on the rain coat...Seemed like the rain didn't affect the fishing as well, like usual.

Had a great day and was SUPER SUPER suprised that the fish were aggressive enough to take a streamer. Biggest fish was a C HAIR under 22''... They hit it like it was going out of style. I had a blast! Got to love this bottom release tail water fisheries. When all the other rivers last summer were 80degrees and a trickle, this was 49 degrees and maintained the same level throughout the summer! Also, this river HAS NOT received its spring stocking yet. These are last years holdovers...

Tight lines boys!!!!!!
