Upper D, not

I did not fish the Upper D today, and after having fished the morning and afternoon I only saw two other guys fishing (miserable worm dunkers).

Arrival time at streamside was 9:30am under cloudy skies and light drizzle, with an air temperature of 47°F. I debated wearing a jacket, figuring it would warm up and I didn't want to have to carry it if it did. However I opted for the jacket and a good thing I did because at 4:30pm the air temperature had only reached 56°F, with a stiff breeze that was strong enough to blow the hat of your head.
My hopes were to see a caddis hatch develop and maybe pop a bank sipper or two, but alas that was not to be. There were just a few olives and a smattering of caddis throughout the day with no heads showing.
The numbers were a little thin but out of a good handful of fish to the net I did have three notable fish of 18, 19 and 22 inches. Beautiful butter/copper colored with strong shoulders.

I have to give a shout out to PlanetTrout for the pattern that was most productive today. That would be the Silvey's Edible Emerger in size 16.

The last fish of the day was a surprise and I believe a testament to the uptick in water quality of this river. A nice 12 inch brook trout that fought like it was half again as big.

By the by, I saw no drift or pontoon boats today.
