Fishing Report: 12/2/2012

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,

Before you sits a fishing report. Yes, a post composed of a FLY FISHING REPORT

Sunday morning I returned home from the city, kaleidoscope vision still enabled. However, if it was the last thing I did, I was going to get out on the water to enjoy some fishing on a relatively mild Sunday.

I made way way southeast to the South Branch of the Raritan River, more specifically, the Ken Lockwood Gorge. I pulled into the parking at a fashionably late 1030, not to be surprised by the amount of cars that were present. Not feeling like getting a ticket today, I didn't push the gate open and drive up the middle lot as I normally do. The dog walkers and tree huggers probably wouldn't have been too happy either and most likely would have alerted the men in green.

I needed numbers. SO out came the 10' 4weight. I was going to throw on some ugly bugger and stream patterns to lock into those big browns, but I wasn't feeling a "down and across" day whatsoever. On goes my parade, which consists of my favorite KLG Killers. The FBBHPT and Rainbow warrior follow by a size 18 grey rs2(cdc puff, NOT zylon).

I made my way up the road just a a bit. I wanted to fish the slack seams/tailouts from the bend down to the island. I realize this section is pounded harder than Beetle's wife on book club night, but there is just something about cleaning up in a section everyone pounds.

So I began frothing the undesirable water first, then slowly moving back into the slack seams and working the trail from shore to shore. Quickly, fish started to come to hand on the FT and and RW in the faster water/seams. When I would work the trail outs and let the Rs2 swing and sit there just before the rif, BAM. It was like candy to a negro with 5 bucks.

The aforementioned mimicked as to what happened as I made my way down to the split just before the private water. Still not satisfied, I made my way BACK up to the top and switch rigs. On went the creme the plastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let the mother fuckin' haters HATE, its time to really clean up!

On went the money beads, yes 2! TWO!!!!!!

Mottled Glow Roe and Cerise, both in 8mm. Positioned a few feet below the indicator, it was lights again AGAIN all the way down. Literally every run/pool held more willing fish and they were extremely aggressive in their takings. Next weekend endeavor will consist of the middle section.

The new loomis czech nypphrod and my Galvan T-4 performed flawlessly!!!!!!! I couldn't ask for a better high sticking nymph rod for a stream of that caliber. Call me STUPID or inept, but I fucking HATE thingamobbers. Unless im bouncing for chrome with a super long leader where my thingamabobber can be placed on my butt section/furled leader, I always find myself untangling, pushing back up the indicator. Annoying as all hell. For now, Ill stick to my Sierra Pop tops (remove center tube)...They float high, cast great, and are as LIGHT as the thingamabobbers!

Water temps were mid 30's and a light wind. It was a bit nipply out but luckily no pam was needed. There were other fishermen present as well as the usual pedestrians that fail to keep their four legged annoyances leashed.

My father booked a room up at Cannons for wed-Sunday. Going to try to bring the balloon boat up for the weekend. Maybe I will see you fellow belibeaders up there!!!

In the mean time, be safe, think snow, and keep pretending to be interested in Pdusky's carp thread...

oh yea dont really want to question this line to much
super long leader where my thingamabobber can be placed on my butt section

You lucky bar steward. Wish i was still there for the mild weather. Don't use yellow beads, they won't work. Or any 6mm beads. You suck dude.
