Klg report 3.01.09

jamiep

homeward bound
Me and jalajoie fished the gorge today in pretty much peace and utter
quiteness.

I had the pleasure of fishing with jcstikfish again.
Fishing was somewhat slow only managed two little wild browns for myself

One on my my own flie i tied which was a first.(awsome feeling)
The flie was a zebra midge with a red hot spot courtesy of ajfromnj
From one of his videos thanks man.
The second was on a white egg patern from james.

Not much more to say only that im getting beter and better with each outing with my nymph game.(thanks james again)

Oh bye the way i lost a big pig right at dark which i thought was a log until he turned and shook my flie :crap:

Nice report man glad to see you out there catching some fishies. I spent the day in a class room listening to DVD lectures about how to be an ethical lawyer. :dizzy::dizzy:

Those are nice little browns! Were the fish right on the bottom or did you suspend the flies under an indicator?

On the bottom kyle i dont use an indicator .Well unless an indicator is needed.Im trying to get away from using them .Just two flies and some split shot.

WTG jamie! Great feeling to catch a trout on a fly you tied yourself, isn't it? Thanks for the report and pics.

Thanks cdog.
Its was surreal i have to say that man .I landed him and realised the fly was my own.
It takes away all the frustration i had while tying.
I lost a big boy at the end man maybe it was those mustads
:)

A closer look at that second pic reveals that we have another Orvis man here. I don't feel so alone anymore. lol

Those mustads will do that to you every time. lol

That's right, I need to get some hooks in the mail, don't I.

There's no such thing as an ethical lawyer. Just think how much time and money you could have saved if you had read this first :D

Great job Jamie! And on your own fly as well!

I still have the very first fly I tied and caught a trout on hanging from my tying desk.

Man is that a bad looking fly come to think of it.. anyway, you will be glad you did save yours.

those are some good looking fish jamie. im gonna have to trek out to the gorge one day. give jcstkfish some more business. helping the economy one cast at a time

Your day is coming.... You'll be posting KLG trout that you got on your Pheasant Tails... soon enough.

Just don't bring up the road issue.... that one is in the SORE SUBJECT LOGBOOK if you know what I mean.

i think the gorge is a good 2-3 hours from me believe it or not. but from what i hear its worth the trip. except for the bears.

Well, you are from NY, so bring the heavy artillery with ya... 12 gage, MG 42, just make sure you have someone watching.. they are sneaky.. just like klg neighbour....

Well worth the ride once to see it first hand. After that, you decide.

I wouldn't drive that extra half hour to that "other" NJ stream... someone might put a shove in your hand, then you will be alongside hllywd76 planting shrubbery.... course, you would get treated with learning all the major "hot spots" to that stream.

The gorge is great. I am not sure if it is worth 2-3 hours of a drive (well depending on where you live it might be). But Pa has some great trout streams that have much less pressure. The one thing about the gorge is that it is always loaded with fisherman, especially on a warmer day in the winter. I do most of my fishing in NJ put I recommend Pa if you are going to travel 2-3 hours.

I mean if you don't care that other fisherman are all around you, I would strongly recommend KLG. The fishing is great.

Well, never one to be left out.

I just did a mapquest, Yellowstone in 60 hours.

Hey, if we are going to play the drive game.. might as well go all out.

I have no idea what this post is about.:D None at all...

Yellowstone is 36 hours if I may correct you haha. Just kidding, but i was out there last summer and it is most definitely worth the drive. I'll be living just north of the park from may-October. My favorite river out there must be the Gallatin River.
