getting out of NYC this weekend for some home cooked meals and some fishing. pequest and musky are blown out, so its sbr for me. has anyone found any unusual, oddball patterns that have worked there recently? i find the klg to be tough this time of year..water is freezing and fish are buried in those pocket. maybe good time to break out the ol pink worm

excuse the newb post, im bored at work.
gracias

Little black stonefly imitations fished in slower water nearer the tailouts of any pools will do well. If you don't have them in black, a size 18 or 16 pheasant tail nymph should do fine.

I would stay inside where it's warm and tie flies.............give the gorge a rest.

Try a blood dot and a small rainbow warrior.

Those fly's worked well there 2 weeks ago.

Like Rusty said focus on the slower sections.

Nice to get out of Rikers Island once in a while isn't it, don't be expecting any yellow ribbons tied around the old oak tree, just leave the ankle bracelet on and don't do anything stupid, like fish when it is 20 degrees.

I would not fish the Gorge this weekend. The SBR has other water that is better to fish in this cold water.

Dont fish midges. NO Top secrets and No sparkle midge work really well there. Sizes 22-26. Dont listen to me, I never fish...... especially in the winter........:)

I had some luck fishing big zonkers and noticed that the fish seemed to be striking in about 18 inches of water. Being that is has been so cold, fish the balls out of a certain area because you have to put the fly on the nose. Pink scuds seemed to be working as well.
