James Capes at RRTU

AKSkim

Boston - Title Town USA
James Capes presentation entitled "Who Moved My Trout" at RRTU last night was without a doubt one of
the finest presentations on how to approach the stream and finding trout I have sat through in a very long time.

In it he covered stream anatomy, water temperatures and quality, structure, seasonal changes, motivating and
environmental factors to put you in the best postition to catch trout any where. With a thought process as
where they are and most importantly, why they are there by breaking the code with a set of simple but
very important factors to take into consideration.

It was clear from the start that Jim is a very experienced, his presentation was well thoughtout and
complete as the knowledge just rolled out all evening.

I always focus in on the questions asked after a presentation because it is always a clear view of how
good the presentation was, the questions asked by the RRTU members showed that Jim's presentation
stimulated a great deal of thought and interest.

At the end JIm was kind enough to give everyone in attendance two of his "Double Trigger Early Black Stoneflies" to try out.

If there is another TU or fishing club out there looking for an outstanding guest speaker I highly recommend Jim.

Another great thread AK, when fishing for trout i can see that Capes is some crusader......

Great post AK. I've hired James as a guide and everything you said is doubly applicable to his approach with his clients, can't say enough good things about his teaching ability, knowledge of stream anatomy and understanding trout behavior etc. He's also a really great guy.

I share the same sentiment as gonzo the guys a class act . I learned so much from James.
I have fished a few times with him and would do over and over again.

The only problem is he likes the MUTS I mean mets sorry!!!!!!

I sincerely regret having missed this and the the ron frost presentation.

I will start going soon.

This is a good chapter of tu. The Ak skim chapter.

Wow guys, thanks for all the kind words! It was my pleasure to present and share an aspect of my approach that I put a lot of emphasis on in my own fishing and when I am teaching/guiding others.

G Lech, the guys in this chapter are a great bunch, have an excellent meeting location, and are working on some terrific projects. I would highly recommend joining their ranks.

AK, thanks so much for taking the pictures and writing a great summary!

I'd also echo everything that Gonzo said. I hired James when I first got into fly fishing and he really jump started my learning curve. I always recommend him when I meet people who are new to the sport. James also sells high quality hand tied flies for outstanding prices. Check out his website.
