Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

The rib is small brown stretch tubing. This fly is tied on a #8 curved stonefly hook.

Those midge larva are a little on the big side. They're are on a #18 hook and I'll usually tie some 20s too.

what did you tie the ribs with?

BULL SH!T

Course, you will have to post the "recipe" for those that are just learning, after all, this is a FLY FISHING site, not a FLY TYING site...

But, you know, some people like klg are just F-N stupid and need everything laid out and explained to them.

You can't help yourself, can you? Why don't you read your avatar before you ruin another thread by saying something "stupid"?

Why don't you go crawl back under the bridge you came from and stay there until you grow up..........

Very nice flies. Using the stretch tube material doesn't have a D side to it, it flattens out on both sides when you wrap it.

Bad hair day?

You on your period again?

AHHhhhhhh....

You all bloated this afternoon?

Not feeling the love...?

AHHHhhhhh....

Have a nice day.....

would you please post a recipe of the stonefly

What are you going to do with it?

You'll waste his time posting it and you won't do a thing with it.

I have noticed your writing style lately.. what did you go to the Shirley Temple School of Writing in a vain attempt to win friends.

This is NEFF, not NJTrout or Girl Scout Trout. Over on those two boards one person write a... say fishing report, then the next 43 post all say something along the lines like, nice fish, nice fly, can you send the recipe.. and so on. YUCK.....

For once I think you might be onto something here. We should make a new System Rule...

#9. If you ask for a fly recipe, you must at least attempt to create the product of the recipe and post a photo of it.

That should at least make things a bit more interesting.

Excellent idea! And I would certainly do that (depending on availability of materials or how soon I can get them).

How about rule #10, but the creator of this idea must follw his own advice:

Well, now I'm curious to see how other people tie this pattern...here's the recipe:

Hook: Tiemco #8 Curved stonefly hook(not sure of the hook number)
Thread: Yellow #6
Tail: Brown biots
Dubbing: Hareline Golden stonefly dubbing/spiky hares ear mixed 50/50
Rib: Small brown stretch tubing
Abdomen: Pheasant tail tied over the top of tightly wound dubbing so lighter side is on top, then rib over that
Thorax: Same dubbing but tied loose/Brown swiss straw

When tying the thorax, dub the swiss straw back over the previous segment slightly to give the appearance of the back "plates" of the stonefly nymph.

Add lead wire for weight if you prefer.
