Goodbye Dear Friend

Goodbye Orion

This morning we had to put our 6 year old lab down due to kidney cancer. Those of you that know me and know Orion, knows she was by best friend and one of the sweetest dogs.

I know she was just an animal, but those of you that have a pet knows how untrue that statement really is.

sorry to hear that you had to put your best friend down. I have a seven year old lab and now exactly how you feel about Orion.

Regards
Paul

Tim - I don't even know what to say. I'm so sorry to hear about this. I only got to meet and play with Orion once - but she was such a joy to be around and truly not just an animal. My heart goes out to you and Jan on your loss.

Thats really a shock.........what a great dog.......I know its just like losing a member of the family......orion is probably bugging someone in doggie heaven to throw the tennis ball..............

Tim ,
Sorry for the Lost of Orion , there is no greater unconditional love of a great dog . being face with the suffering and illness that he was going through is the decision that no one wants to make , we only can pray to god that he is at ease , and finally at peace with no suffering . only time will make pain better of your lost, but will never replace the memory of a great dog sorry for your lost .

KLG, your friends are still at the depth of the bond you had with Orion. We are sorry and saddened by the news but happy she had such a nice family with whom to spend her time here on earth.

I'm truly sorry for your loss, she is with some fine company now, Toby, Blazer.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. I have two labs and know how you feel. They occupy a special place in your heart.

Tim,

Sorry to hear about your loss! Just think though...I'm sure she left little treats for you to find around the house. Her way to keep you laughing during a hard time.

What can I say, that was one great dog! Truley sorry, but also glad you kept the pick of the litter to always remind you of you friend.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

man, sorry about the loss. I've been fortunate to be owned by dogs my whole life, and the end is always sad, no matter how long they live. Dogs provide a loyalty, and gentle sincerity that we seek in our fellow man, and so seldom find. Condolances, Tim.

Thanks Rick and all the rest. It's tough to keep track of the dogs because they are all great. Just to clarify, we lost our first dog, not the mother of the litter.

Today, momma, AKA Ursa was moping around the house, she knows her buddy is gone. Ursa is 1-1/2 years younger than Orion who was a surrogate mom to Ursa when we brought Ursa home.

Tim....very sorry to hear about this! I have two labs and couldn't imagine having to face the decision to put one down. At least you know that she isn't suffering any more.

I know it hurts but you have 6 years of great memories...Sorry for the loss...Dan

KLG:

I am sorry for your loss. I too am a dog owner and understand how close these wonderful animals are to us. My dog Sprinkles is a family member and a true best friend. Your Dog's time might have been short on this earth, but her memories and crazy things that she did will last a life time. The wife and I truly love dogs and it seems that your family does too. Again, I am sorry to hear for your Families loss.

Losing a companion is always tougher than you expected it would be. You did the humane thing, and there are other canine friends waiting.

Tim,

Just back from a 3 day weekend and am greatly saddened by your loss. As you know, I had to put down my 14 yr old Brittany two months ago and he was my hunting partner and general companion since even before I was married. One of the toughest decisions you can make!

I will miss seeing Orion around your house and at TU booths at Pequest eating our pizza! Please send my condolences to Jan (and Ursa, too!).
