Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Get Ready... it's Coming!

Not really... Who is going to be the first to test it out? The warning is right in the beginning of the DVD.

You guys have no idea how much money and time went into this.

Wait, wait, wait, wait,.............wait a minute, here.

:judge:

This is coming from the same guy who's mantra is

"Rules of fishing. The more signs. The more trout."

A warning was also posted on the Spruce Ridge Club that you just happened to conveniently ignore, too. :foto:

eurodoucher.jpg

"TPO WILL NOT BE DENIED!!!"

Go for it, folks. Throw it on the Pirate Bay, Rapidshare, etc. Everything else is there already, so what's another Gigabyte or two. :applaudit

Really smart to taunt & challenge folks to do it, also.

:smiley-sniffer:

The voice of the bottom of the outhouse has spoken.

Conversely, no one really cares that you've just posted. Take a quick poll.

Another scatalogical reference from hoolie? Should I be surprised?

No, it was you who posted poo videos to neff, wasn't it hoolie?

---------- Post added at 08:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:27 PM ----------

And to think that you would encourage folks to engage in piracy is fuckin sad. Downright mother fuckn sad.

You jealous son of a bitch...

And you watched with such lust in your eyes. I know you miss it.

Funny though, I never posted scat vids. You're letting NEFF on to your darkest fantasies there buddy boy.

Carry on.

The mere suggestion, in jest, mind you, from a few members to rip, upload, share it on Pirate Bay, throw it on YouTube has invoked a direct challenge to do so. One way or another it may happen or it may not at all. Not quite the black market out there for pirated fly fishing videos out there, so relax. I'm sure no one on the Vltava, Carès-Deva, Purón, Bedón, Sella, Piloña, Tolminka, & Radovna rivers will be passing off bootleg copies of the DVD along with Bobeshs. So all you have is the vimeos, youtubes, and the like to contend with. Less ground to cover.

So it was legal to fish that water despite the big ol' sign flanked by the other small one. There's a shit ton of fish in that river, but you decided on that spot because of the sign, albeit a meaningless sign, and made it such a renegade thing to do because "TPO won't be denied". How could you be a total renegade, if it's totally legal?? So it all boils down to being a gimmick, which was this Euronymphing thing is, but more power to you if get yours.

We're all just having fun here. Relax.

European nymphing techniques and fly tying is filed for copyright with the us library of congress. It is a violation of federal law to copy or distribute the content of this dvd without our written permission. Your name and ip addresses have been recorded and our lawyers have been informed of these postings and will follow up with all pursuant laws and penalties.
BULLSHIT!!!!!

Do you know how ridiculous you sound? You don't have anyones IP address from this site because you can't get it without me giving it to you. We both know this never happened. Now tell us that your attorney's found a way around my fourth amendment rights and that that they had an internet search warrant for a crime that doesn't exist! "Uhhhhh... Yo honna, check it out... I got some dude who said he was looking for my video on youtube, can we get a search warrant for his IP address and any other IP address that might have been on that site so we can "follow up with all pursuant laws and penalties" (about asking questions!!!!!)

We are working in conjunction with you tube and other sites to prevent any illegal postings of content from this dvd. If posted it will promptly be removed. You are in violation of federal law.
pfffffffff. Yeah and I have a bridge in Brooklyn to for sale. Hope you have a lot of time on your hands. There has to be a million sites out there that allow uploading of videos. Good luck.

You need to get yourself a sense of humor. If you couldn't see the facetiousness in my post and the follow up posts then you really don't belong here with your DVD, take it back to TPO. Take the copy you were going to mail to me and donate it to RRTU.

I like that a person is bitching about hard work and protecting it from being stolen. When he is trying to make money on styles of fishing that have been around for decades. Who did you steal your ideas and techniques from, and were they compensated for it?

I am not going to argue about this one as Taylor wrote that post under my name, but yes we do have some free time for now. ave Dennis if we need to we will get all of the IP addresses. We have them from other sites as they do not keep them closed.

Trico Mike,

Here you go showing how jealous you are AGAIN!
Ok bring up the fact that I stepped in the water at the Little Lehigh and the I legally fished the KLG on opening day. Check the regulations. It's open to no kill fishing until 8am on opening day then you can keep your one fish. The funniest thing about you Mike is that I have never even met you. Would you act the same way towards me in a face to face setting? I would think not.

That's the sad part about this whole internet fishing thing. It ruins the industry. If you were someone coming into fly fishing as a beginner is this something that you would want to be part of. Jealousy turns people into real nasty y people. My grandfather said that jealousy is the route of all of these types of comments.

What I wish that people would do, is to try to do better than the person that they attempt to rip down. But I guess it's EASIER to try to throw sand in their face...

What's to argue about? You shouldn't be sharing your account with other people. Doing so makes you look double foolish.

All IP Address's? All 1 of them?

He had to be kidding...... i think.... I also don't blame him for being concerned that his work may get pirated although it is impossible to stop.

Here you go again with that whole jelaous thing. Was only pointing out that those techniques and such have been around for decades and that you are trying to make money off of other peoples ideas.

In fairness to AJ, trico my bro, many books and videos are written and made which explain and advance techniques, ideas and theories that came before them.

You know Rob from Rob's Realistics? The first couple of years I ran in to Rob, he would always give me a fly (for free) on the water and give me his comprehensive thoughts on the river for the day (for free). Rob didn't know me at all - just a very friendly guy who loves what he does and loves sharing what he loves with others who love it... Do you know how much money I've spent on Rob's flies since then and will continue to do? A lot! I could make flies on my own. He's a local guy that treats me and any other people he meets on the water with a huge grin and a comradery that oozes sincerity and integrity. Look at this web site. HUGE amounts of time effort money. Probably more than 80% of the viewers of this site enjoy it at no expense and with more return than a single DVD could provide. So did I. The potential for this site to capitilze is significant. If you're serious about what you're doing, connect with your peers. Look in to the camera more and relax - have fun.
The issue of giving huge volumes of your product away for free over the internet is skewed by the fact that you are not effectively looking at your audience. Maybe Rob would give away a half dozen flies every other day while your video potentially could get shared by thousands. But, Rob's physical audience in a given day might only be dozens. Digital mediums expose you to millions of people. So, if 10,000 people share your video but the exposure brought 2,000 people to buy your product - did you not make out? And you didn't have to lift a finger for that exposure.

Mike,

What's the title of the DVD?

I am only teaching people how to do it. You don't seem to get that.

Go around trashing everyone who has written or filmed an instructional video or anything.

The copyright protects our film. You or anyone else can make their own.

Hey where can i get the free flies:)...just kidding..you make some great points though.

I have asked Dennis if he wanted to sell them on the site to generate profit for NEFF. I am sure that many members would have purchased it because they are helping this site and getting something tangible. The offer is still there Dennis...

DC is going to start taking orders for the dvd on monday, I should have 500 copies for him by then.

The only person not getting something here is YOU. You took what was an obvious joke about putting your video onto youtube and turned it into a copyright infringement legal issue.

As far as your offer to sell these on the site... I explained to you that the site isn't currently setup to monitor sales of a DVD. Now if you want to send me a box of those DVD's at cost, I will gladly sell them on the site providing you quite with the legal BS.

When we spoke over the phone, you were very excited about the release of the DVD. What we agreed upon was that you would create unique articles for the users of this site in exchange for the promotion of the DVD.

yes we do have some free time for now
Instead of focusing your efforts on catching someone sharing your DVD on youtube, perhaps now would be a good time to use that free time to focus your efforts on more relevant things?

Much like Rob's free sample flies, Aaron has been making free videos for some time now and has provided a lot of other free content on his website. Its not unreasonable that he now wants to make some money on one of his projects. The fact that he is teaching traditional techniques is really irrelevant. By that logic, no one should be able to sell foreign language text books because they didn't invent the language.

I do agree that putting clips on youtube would be a great way to market the dvd. I wouldn't put the whole dvd up there, but a couple of quality clips could really help you.

By the way Aaron, what would you think about TU chapters adding your dvd to their "lending libraries"? I believe such use is permitted as "fair use" under copyright law.

How Dennis chooses to capitalise is up to him. I think you have it a little backwards though. You're the one who wants people like Dennis. He's not out there looking for you. You are the one looking for him. The people on this site are his people not yours. Dennis came right out of the gate saying how great your video was (he didn't have to do that. he really didn't have to do that). Instead of saying somethin nice about him. You took his compliment stood on a pedestal and proceeded to tell him how lucky he'd be with your product on his site. I have to tell you that's off-putting.

I spoke to Dennis and he is going to set up a store where you can purchase the DVD through NEFF. This way he can raise money to keep the site going. It benefits everyone here.

I should have taken some of the comments in jest, but this is something that we worked very hard on so it's a "sensitive" issue.

AJ,
If you weren’t so notorious for being so sketchy, whether or not the legality is there, in things you do, then there would be no debate on this at all and you can hock your DVD and whatnot at your leisure anywhere you wish. You’ll do it anyway, but you certainly can’t expect to not get any heat. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Is it a matter of jealousy to expand upon your notion that the complete “newb” to fly-fishing that decides to go down the EuroNymph path may get fed a line? Let’s say he/she grabs your DVD for $29.95 and wants to further pursue this. He/she asks you about obtaining a coiled leader. Are you going to sell him “One of the France’s very best invetions. This coiled sighter is the very best out there in strike detection. Made specifically to Aaron Jasper’s specs, this length of coiled indicator will make at least 10 separate indicators. Great for everything from the shortest of short line euro applications to the longest of long line euro applications” for $10 for 20ft (near 7 yards, if we’re going for a 2ft Euro Coil – or is that not to your specs) or will you direct them to your video on making their own?

image001.jpg

If we’re going by your 30lbs Cortland Micron @ 150 yards recipe (or is it not to your specs?) one could get about 21 of those $10 Jasper Euro Coils (minus the Euro Coil holder with a snazzy Kohler O-Ring) for around $15, which is a lot of fishing trips. But the unassuming newb won’t know that he can save the $200 that you’d get if 21 of those sold overall and focus and getting some other well needed gear. How many yards of Cortland Micron can you get for $200??
Funny how the Czech/Polish aspect of this “Euro Nymphing” started with almost nothing and whatever material they had at their disposal. The true essence of this “sport”. True DIY. Now, it’s just another high ticket “new thing” if you just jump into it because it’s all the rage. Couple this with the shenanigans you’ve seemed to attract upon yourself here and elsewhere, it’s no small wonder why anyone would look at the way you present this with a bit of scrutiny. So you standing behind the gates inciting folks to do what you don’t want happening to your work is the part of “the industry” that I don’t mind getting shot down like a Junkers JU86 bomber over England during the blitz. Hey, that was Euro!! Nice.

It's fine for you to be skeptical about the technique. I used to think it was bs at one point too. Then I TRIED it. Once I tried it I was wowed to say the least. It's a very finesse way to nymph fish. I have fished indicator style, Humphries/Harvey split shot style and I have never had the success that I have had with the European Style nymph fishing.

I can with 100 percent certainty guarantee that if you actually watch the film you will see some differences and be able to up your catch rates in the next season.

About the coiled indicator, I might be wrong, but I believe that they originated in Slovenia or Slovakia.

You don't have to use one to fish that style.

As the saying goes, "try it, you might like it."

I learned the same lesson today when I went to get my lunch at the Domincan restaurant across the street. There has been this thing that I have wanted to try, but it didn't look too appetizing. The guy offered me a sample, I thought to myself that this could be bad. When I tried it, I was amazed at how good it was.

Where this comes to a conclusion is that fly fishing is a constant journey where you acquire knowledge, at least for me it is. I learn new things about fish and fishing everytime out. I hope that this does the same thing for people who aren't able to fish as much as I can.

Great idea to set up a store to market the DVD. The next step for the site is to add other items to the store so that we can support the site by buying, say, a rod n reel.

Yeah lets offer stuff on this site. A rod n reel would be goo...oh wait..That costs more than 10 bucks..Maybe you can buy some diapers though. We can even offer AK some Depends and even some Denture Cream. This is a good idea.
