Dennis:

Stop by and say hello, I will be tying with the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild from 09:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday

I'll be there Sunday with black hat and bells on.

AK - Wearing your GST shirt will you be?

I will be tying at the show and presenting, "Methods of European Nymphing."

I will be presenting in the following locations and times. I know I am not one of the "Big Guns," but you have to start somewhere!

Friday 2:00pm @ the Bedminster Room
Saturday 11:00am @ the Tewksbury Room
Sunday 11:00 am @ the Westfield Room

I look forward to seeing a bunch of you guys there!

I was going to post all that with the other member's of NEFF's schedule.

My job you know....

My old man and I always went on Friday but I told him I'm no longer burning a vacation or personal day for this thing, so we're going Saturday. No way I'm going to waste anymore of my days for anything other than fishing and hunting.

Hi Ryan:

Couldn't agree with you more. Why burn a vacation day for the show when you can burn one to be out on stream. The show in my eyes use to be real good and over the years is just Okay. When I finish tying on Saturday I then walk around the show and it's just so darn crowed and at times not enjoyable trying to move around to get to something that you want to see. Lastly over the years the bargains that use to be found are gone. I remember when you could find barrels of hooks and floss that it was'nt funny. I guess it's a sign of the economy and of course the vendors that went out of bussiness. However on the upside, books are great and the rods are always available to cast and I love seeing some old friends.

I always pickup a few items. I most enjoy going to a seminar or two and then just walking around and soaking up the atmosphere of the place. Maybe chat with a friend or two, and pop over to the casting demonstration area. Two years ago I got really lucky and won a 2-night stay at Lopstick lodge on the Upper Connecticut River in NH. Stayed for 4 days and was about ready to quit my job and move up there (had the same feeling on a trip to the Smokies.) I'll stop by the booth to say hello.

So let me get this straight?

So if STUPID RYAN wins another trip to Chop Sticks, does that mean he'll stay up there this time and we are done with him?

Oh c'mon now ya pissy, middle-aged f*cker I'd still be on here if only just to annoy you.

Is it me, or did they raise the prices yet again? $15.00 for 1 day, $25.00 for 2, $34? for 3. I might be off by a dollar somewhere.

Let's see.... Winston was not there last year, Orvis wasn't there either. Was loomis there? I don't recall.

The presentations never change, it's always the same crew giving the same presentation. Kinda useless to me and I'm sure many others but, I'm sure new people will find them useful and entertaining.

I see they advertise "FREE PARKING"! WHOOPTIE DOOOOOOOOOO.... Anyone happen to notice this years sponsors?

Not so long ago, you could go to the show and get some really great deals on rods and other equipment. It was a "Gotta get rid of it for next seasons stock" kinda show. Now it's all retail stores selling at retail prices. You can't even haggle anymore.

Hmmmm... Maybe I'll go, pay my $15.00, and take notes...

I know I need a new pair of sunglasses. I can get them on Ebay for a fraction of what I can pay at the show and they won't surcharge me 15.00 for them!

Several NJTU Chapter will have displays, as will the state council. North Jerseytu is usuallly just inside the main door, Central Jerey just around the corner. Jersey Shore and Rahway River will also have tables.

The Council is selling our raffle tickets for a TU Life Membership, which comes with a Winston Boran II TU 50th Anniversary Rod and Waterworks Lamsnon Reel. 2nd prize is a waterproof digital camera.

Not sure where we will be but stop by and say hello (bring your check book).

(It seems that every year I complain about it, I manage to show up anyway. Maybe I'll go snowboarding instead.)

Dennis:
And miss your friends from Montana, I think they will be there..

Like every year since the show started, I will be there..There was a time that you could get bargains but that changed years ago...Now its a place to go to see friends, feel some equipment and BS about fishing and flies...Not a bad way to spend a cold January day...

I just can't wait to see Kathy Beck live and in person.I've only seen her a couple of times on the cover's of every fly fishing magazine in existance.

I agree with you on that. Years ago, you could go on Friday and beat the crowds. The last 5+ years, Friday is every bit as crowded as the weekend.

I only go every couple of years now, since it doesn't change that much. Haven't gone in 2 years so I am planning to go this year.

I want to look over the schedule and decide if any of the programs are worth going to. Lefty will be there this year, so I will make a point to see him. May not get too many more chances.

I agree with bkill, I go every year to see the many friends I've made over the years. I'll probably only be there only for one day (Friday) and will be spending most of my time at the DRC booth.

I will be there helping out at the Joan Wulff Flyfishers table in the main entrance area. Stop by would love to meet some of the people on the board.

Kelly - I'm often helping out our Fred Burroughs/North Jersey TU chapter which I think is directly across from you at the entrance so I'll be sure to say hello:)

I just hope that I'll be able to find some decent spey hackle,Blue Eared Pheasant Feathers and berlin wool. I don't want to buy hackle online because I want to see it first.

You mean me... go ahead and say it.

As always, used to have women swoon over me.

I took the liberty of correcting that last post for you. It must be nice to reminisce about old times.....

I only started going a few years ago so I'm still able to find "new" things to attend. I just go for the seminars mostly, I particularly enjoyed the Rutters talk on Fishing the Smokies last year. But you can still find a few deals here and there too. March Brown Rod company's first year there they had awesomedeals on their rods, my dad picked one up. Last year he got one of those great soft cooler bags, East Coast Fisherman or something, it keeps stuff incredibly cold for a long time even in the heat of summer. I usually run into a few friends, so that's a nice part of it too.

I look forward to meeting those who attend. I will be there, of course!

Crowds are not really a problem, imo, unless you have to wait to try a rod! The lines are not terribly long, except maybe at the casting pools,

AK, you left one out........

If you can, try to see Michael Mauri's fly casting demo at the casting pond. I think he is scheduled for Sat and Sun. This guy can cast as well as anyone I've seen, and the trick stuff he does is amazing. I watched him at the Marlborough show this weekend, and he blew everyone away with his technique............he's very funny, too.

See you all at the show.
