Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Alaska......

Hit the Kenai/ Russian confluence today. It sure is getting cold out! Here are a few pictures from the outing.

The Russian...empty..

Nice fish, looks like your progressively finding the bigger fish, and that water color behind you is amazing. Glacial runnoff? Who says melting glaciers aren't good for something?

Next spring you need to pop the mouse pattern for those bows before the salmon run. And take some video.

Thanks! Yeah, the Kenai is glacial runoff. It's amazing those fish can see so well in that water. In the picture you can see the hard break from the Russian dumping into the Kenai.

We fished mouse patterns early in the summer and hit a few rainbows. I'm going to concentrate my top water efforts next year and see what kind of fish I can scare up. I will be sure to try and get some footage of the top water action.

Well fishing has definitely slowed down and gotten tough. I only managed some dinker bows and dollies. Oh well.

My buddy managed two nice fish over 20". One was 25" and this one was 24". It was caught on a bead. :)

He let the first one slip back into the water while I was getting ready to take a pic.

This piggy was caught by my buddy today, on a flowing body of water that will not be named between Homer and Fairbanks, while dead drifting a flesh pattern.

It measured 28"x16"!!

I wish the fishing was as hot as this truck fire that had me sitting in traffic for an hour!

I will get some pictures together and make one for 2014.

I should have some time in between changing diapers this next week.

Its all frozen up now.....isn't it..

Congratulations. Maybe I wasn't paying attention....Boy? Girl? and did you get it a fly rod yet?

He was just born Thursday nigh at 11pm

Grayson James 7lbs 5oz and 21".

Portions of the Kenai should be open.

Congrats Chris. Lighten up you don't call a human being an it. Jeez what a boob:)

Thanks Mac! I will post some pictures of the little Snagger once we leave the Hospital today or tomorrow morning. Hopefully today, so we can get home and actually sleep for more than five minutes without a nurse coming in the room.

Congrats man, you have a new fishin buddy. Those are good healthy measurements too, the size of a good bass. A tournament smallmouth.

I trust that cigars are on the way to all of the members of NEFF. Good ones, not Philly blunts or something. Congratulations!

Here are some pictures from yesterday. Plenty of silvers to help pass the time in between the bows and dollies.

Everyone keeps complaining about all this cold and frigid weather. I'm not sure what some of you are talking about since it was 40 degrees and absolutely beautiful on the Kenai today. Not only was the weather great, but the fishing and the catching was pretty darn good.

We landed a bunch, and lost a bunch more it seems. The fishing was pretty steady through out that day, and the only other fisherman around were the bald eagles.

Me-"I am getting too close to the ditch. I'm going to slide in on this ice."
Buddy-"You're good"
Me-"I just slid in the ditch"

Needless to say, we disconnected the boat and I got out. I'm glad I didn't shred my tire on the drainage pipe that was in the ditch. Melting compact snow that keeps refreezing doesn't make for a great driving surface. His entire driveway was an ice skating rink. It doesn't help that side of the driveway has a nice downward slope into the drainage ditch!

If you had a Toyota with back up camera this never would have happened.

You're right. Because that Toyota would have never been able to pull any kind of boat. What is the towing capacity of one of those dinker trucks? 50lbs?

Also, how is a back up camera supposed to stop you from sliding on ice? Does it have a laser beam that shoots out to melt the ice?

My taco actually pulls a drift boat just fine.

And if you get the TRD package, it does come with a ice melting backup camera.
