Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Alaska......

Here are a few pics from yesterday. Lake will be iced up by the end of the week, then I will be back to having to drag the pontoon across the lake.

My taco actually pulls a drift boat just fine.

And if you get the TRD package, it does come with a ice melting backup camera.

Just the drift boat though, add some more weight to that trailer and I'm not so sure that taco will be able to move.

Here is my new ride. 18' Koffler lite with a 50hp yammie on the back. Having a jet pump installed in April.

Be on the Situk May 1-8th. Chasing after some piggies like the one below. Hopefully I can find one that cracks the 20lb mark.

I might be working as a guide trainee there this summer. Tower Rock Lodge and Tikchik Narrows are the two possibilities. Do you know anything about either lodge?

I will do some digging for you. Just ask how long their guides have been with them. If it's less then a year they suck. The one in Kenai is Orvis endorsed so they can't be that bad. Both lodges look nice. The one in Bristol Bay looks up scale for sure.

My said both places are nice. His one friend actually owns Tower Rock. The Tichik has big rainbows out their way.

I was just notified today of two other possibilities. Kenai Cache Outfitters and Crooked Creek Retreat. After initial research, both look decent to me but I want to be sure. Could you give me some feedback on these two as well? Thanks for the help.

Hey Pdiddy duane..nice to see you posting again..not to hijack the thread, just a quick question...PD, did you ever catch any carp in Clinton on the fly?
and good luck in Alaska, sounds like hard work!!!!

I actually did catch a few this summer. I had a few that snapped my 1x tippet as well. Definitely some beasts near the Rt. 31 bridge down to the falls. Picked up a few decent smallies as well. Thanks for letting me know about that spot.

Kenai Cache is a decent outfit right in Cooper Landing. I haven't heard anything about Crooked Creek Outfitters.

I would go with one of the first two options. Working for an Orvis Endorsed lodge will get you more for your resume than the other two.

The biggest thing is realizing you will probably be doing little guiding and be doing more bitch work as a guides assistant.

There is a week long class that needs to be completed for you to legally guide on the Kenai.

Here are a few photos from my most recent outings. Fishing has been great recently. Unfortunately, I didn't take too many fish porn pictures. It's amazing the size of the leech some of these rainbows will eat.

Here are some pictures from the Situk. It was an awesome trip for sure. Even if the water was a little low and some of the people on the trip didn't want to pay for their portion of the trip. Either way, plenty of fish were caught and lost. Enjoy.

My sister in law is up visiting from Vegas, so we have been doing the tourist thing as of late taking her around, which leaves little time for fishing. But, we have seen some great sights. Here are a few pictures from the marine tour we went on out of Seward.

Bears, glaciers, Denali, all done in a day. FISHING is the real tourist thing to do!

A few pictures from yesterday on the Russian. Awesome day for sure, with lots of hungry fish.

Always good to see a bear as soon as you get to the water.

No, I didn't fish here. I had to stop and see the zoo though.

This is what I saw most of the day, people wise.

Just a few pictures from today. I was on the water with Hillery and Grayson for a better part of the day. We fished the Russian since Grayson likes sitting in his carrier more than he likes wearing a life jacket, but who can blame him. The thing is constricting.

The lack of plastic upsets me.

Also you fucking pictures and their filtering gives me a fucking seizure.

You can't fish beads on the Russian right now. It's artificial flies only.

If you're worried about a seizure from a picture, then you should stop going to all those raves with the flashing strobes and different color lights.

The reds (sockeye) should be in thick by the end of next week. Over 100,000 have passed the weir on the Kenai already. The next few outings I will be trying to fill my freezer. Hopefully I limit out early so I can spend the rest of the time trout fishing.

That purist rod hangs more to the right than my dick when finding out the girl you're about to go down on doesn't shave.
