Since I am lucky enough to be able to fish here just about every day now, I figured I'd keep you guys updated on how things work out for me.

I will be heading out Thursday morning for the Kenai Peninsula to scope things out since that is the only water that is open.

Letting the bamboo air out in the hotel room.

I just pictured someone entering your room ....and...
Without looking..... sitting down on the loveseat. :crap:

Hey Chris, Looks like you're having a blast. Sorry I couldn't make the trip with you this year. I don't see the most important rod in your arsenal. Where's that 15' pin? I thought you went up there to catch fish?

This is what hard core steel heading looks like.

I have been told the rainbows in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula are bigger than the steelhead. Saw a picture of a 14lb Kenai rainbow from three days ago. Guy said he has caught 5 bows over 20lbs and he showed me a picture of a 25lb rainbow from the Kenai!!!!!!!!

This is not the Kenai

It is midnight here, the beer is cold, the fire is warm, an I can still see sunlight on the horizon!

Just hope a moose doesn't step on me and a bear doesn't eat me while I'm sleeping. Not sure my .45 will do much. Going I have to get a bigger gun.

Well no dice on the steelhead on the Kasilof. No one got a thing.

Camping out on Skilak lake and then dragging the toon a mile to the Kenai for a two day float. Which means I will be camping along the bank some where. Kenai closes May 1st and opens back up in June after the rainbows spawn. Should be interesting to say the least. Hopefully I can find some fish willing to play.

Despite your bitterness, i am still willing to guide you so that one day you might catch a real fish and change your avatar from the one you display back when you were in high school

Open Invitation.....

If any of you wankers want to come out here and fish please let me know. You guys are free to use my pontoon and crash at our place before you head out. It will just cost you a 12 pack of beer or a 5 can roll of dip. I will be adding a jump seat to my boat in the next few weeks. So do your research and let me know if you are headed this way. I may even be able to fish the weekends with you.

There is a lot of free camping in Alaska if you guys want to keep it cheap. Honestly, if you have a tent and a sleeping pad, and cold weather bag you will be fine. I have already spent many nights in a tent in 20 degree nights and have been fine.

August and September is when you guys can catch 15-20lb rainbows on the Kenai. It is also when the steelhead make their way into the KP. I am doing my homework to make things easier for you guys if you want to come out here.

It is pretty easy fishing if you run an indicator. Hoping to have an 18' John boat with jet motor by August.

Ahhhhhh.....Alaska. I love this place.

I may come up but only if you offer turn down service and place a mint on my pillow every evening. You may wish to restrict DLUVER from coming. I invited him to float the Delaware and he is still camped out in my driftboat a year later.

That's more money than a 12 back of beer or a log of dip!

Find out this week if I am living in a house in Eagle River or a condo in South Anchorage.

Tobias - my avatar is a pic I shot just before we ran the canyon on the upper Kenai. Love it up there and might get back in '14.

My brother was a guide there, PM me if you wants names to know.

I have met a lot of great people who have been very generous with info. Gave me more than I have asked. I all I asked was what section I should float. Next thing I know I had a google map in front of me and holes being pointed out!

Let me know if you head this way.

I cheated last week. Hey, I needed to feel a head shake! Anyways, here is some porn, but first here are a few that will be swinging this Saturday when I float the Kasilof.

I was told many people have been fishing that river for a long time and never caught over a 30" steelhead. I banged 10 fish in one hole. Had trouble keeping fish buttoned. Only landed 6 out of the 15 I hooked. I guess you could say it was a good day. Haha. Majority of the fish came on a super top secret bead.
