I read a LOT of books about fly fishing. Not the hands-on "learn how" books, but literature books telling stories. Gierach, Nick Lyons, McGuane, etc.
Why is it that every fly fishing author these days seemingly must write about how they lost their virginity? It's actually not just limited to fly fishing books, but I'll limit the conversation to that since this is a FF site.
Or, if they don't write about that, why is it they must then write about where they were on Sept. 11, 2001? I can think of two FF books I read in the last month that talk about this.
I just find it annoying.
