Re: Sept, 2007 - NEFF The Magazine

Publishers of specialty magazines have always strived to provide informative and timely articles to the general public. I received my copy of Northeastern Fly Fishing "The Magazine" just the other day and I have to admit the photos and detailed maps of all the "secrete spots" on the Delaware River system is outstanding. I suspect that certain locations will see far greater fishing pressure than others, but there are more than enough large trout to please even the most disconcerting fly or bate fisherman.

I found the article on trout holding locations for August when river levels are at there lowest to be perhaps the most detailed and informative piece of information, and you can be well assured that those locations will attract hundreds every day. So get there early with your lawn chairs and canopy tents to stake out your position. FYI - the NY State ban on gas grills and bonfires along the water front has been lifted, so bring the family.

The proposed improvements for the rivers which include major channeling for large boats to navigate up and down the river and paving a large percentage of the banks to allow fishermen greater access and ability to drive their pickup truck closer to the river is a well thought out state improvement plan thanks to the new construction of high voltage power lines crossing the river..

I suspect that this publication will have a lasting effect for years on that fisheries as this issue is going to have.

Any young person with vision will see that placing vendor carts along the river and a pontoon boat motoring up and down the river serving fast food to the throngs of fly fisherman surely become wealthy over night. I don't believe trash accumulation on the river banks or in the river from such an endeavour will present any problems what so ever considering the amount of water that flows down stream.

Dennis.....this is a great idea! Can't wait to buy it!

I would like to volunteer to be a contributing author for future issues. Some ideas I have include:

Spey Rod Jig n' Pig for Wild Brookies

Matching the Passaic River Green Drake Hatch

Beat the Crowds: KLG Float Trip

Let me know if the publisher expresses any interest.

Nice cover Dennis! Looks like the cats out of the bag now when it comes to the delaware. Fished these past three days and almost had the river to myself. The lest crowded I think I have ever seen it.

I attribute the diminisde crowds to Ralphs Grand Cascapedia post. They must all be after the secret Atlantic Salmon run of the Cascapedia.

Hey NJFRED the tricos are around in the AM and fish are feeding on them.. Look for them on the lower west to main that is where I had luck on tricos.

Haha... too funny. I am sure that they all went to the Little Lehigh too after the pictures on my site as well... What a joke.

Denis.... Hendricksons in the summer.... I have to tell everyone to get up there for that one.

Denis ... how can we get Google Earth maps to show us All of the spots. Everytime I hook a trout I can put a dot on it. It will be like the quarterback passing charts on tv.

If you're serious, I have already registered the future site name. PM me.

So who is that on the "cover" ? I like to know who I share a "cover" With.
That's, "Meat", <STRATEGICALLY placed>delaware rivers latest and greatest.

Ok, so his name is not 'Meat'. Not sure if anyone actually caught that. It wasn't a typo (as some kindly pointed out in PM's). That's Wylie aka Theartoflee.
