Drink some more beer, that thing will start looking good then. Before you fish, pour a case into the stream above where you plan on fishing, so the fish get some goggles on also.
Actually, that fly will still fish, grease it up and use it on small streams for brookies, it should work. You're actually ahead of the game and don't know it, since you didn't crowd the head, which is where many people fuck it up. Tie the hackle in inside face down and don't criss-cross it around the wing, comes out neater. Are the tails moose hock or elk? Elk flairs more. When you tie the tail in at the bend, make the first couple of thread turns at a more moderate tension, and then lock it up behind those, won't flair as much. Shorten them up to shank-length as well.

GB my only advise to you is if you keep listening to people who say dont worry that fly will still catch fish.The only flies you tie will look like shit.Strive for perfection.The fly should say something about yourself..If you know some proportions are wrong them fix them..dont be one of these guys who always cover there shittty tying abilities to always say, it will still catch fish.Thats not what tying our own flies is about..

I tend to agree with everyone on your dumbass fly, i agree that it will catch fish, i also agree with those who offered how to improve it. Not being someone who ties flies, I also agree with the comment that pitbull made...... strive for perfection...

gb that one is a little better what do you use as your post? and is the hackle surposed to come forward or backward and the tail is thin haha you know its great when you can tye the damn royal and you telling someone else how to do it lol its like i can see it in my head but i cant get it right when i tye it

My most recent Royal is pretty good, TroutFever.
I brought it to a fly tying expert, and she said that to rate a royal, you needed to look at the following criteria.
First, floatability. Mine will float. She says so.
Second, aesthetic appeal. For you monkey balls out there, that means, does the fly look good? She says it looks good. Really fucking good.
Third, does it have red floss? She says it has the floss.
So, there you have it. My fly rocks.
