ravine lake spill?

darkalley

Fishizzle, I use worms but I'm looking to upgrade!
Anyone know what is going on at ravine lake? There is a barge with "oil spill" skirts iN the lake. Lots of equipment

they should make a tiny little tail water while they"re at it. That lake sucks.

Believe it or not, Ravine Lake does have bottom release capabilities but the lake is far too shallow to make a difference even if they used the release valve.

It was 23' deep back in 2005...

what does bottom release mean?

"Bottom release" or "tailwater" means that the colder water in the bottom of a lake or reservoir is released into a river via a dam's water release mechanism which changes in engineering from dam to dam. The official definition is that cold water from the lake/reservoir's hypolimnion is drained into a river system to provide cold water. The hypolimnion is the dense bottom layer of water in a thermally-stratified lake. It is the layer that lies below the thermocline. Because that water is cold in the summer months, it acts to cool down a river system and provide a coldwater fishery even in places like Arkansas where trout would not otherwise live. The dams on the upper Delaware River and its tributaries are all "tailwater" or "bottom release" dams which is why we have wonderful trout fisheries in that river.

Bottom release is usually quite frequent the morning after White Castle and a 6-pack.

That answers my question on why I am having bottom releases this morning. White Castles at 11pm last night...so good:toilet-humor:
