It is odd that the price of produce from the California area has not gone up yet.........you would figure with the water shortage they would be raising prices already.....

Big business gets all the water they want.

its the people who are getting screwed.

It's not Big Business getting all the water they want, it's Big Agriculture. Americans want cheap food... God forbid we should pay what it REALLY should cost for a head of lettuce.

More importantly, Californians are making sure farms get water because they are petrified by the thought of millions of illegal immigrants with nothing to pick in the fields.

We can't rely as much on California for our food. This is why NYC should be giving water to farmers above the dams. We've heard that there's more than enough water... Irrigation NOW!!!

looking for a government hand out, eh? that figures

Fortunately, I don't live under the thumb of NYC on the lands upstream of any of the dams. Figures you would mistakenly assume that.

BUT, yes, if the economy is what folks here on this site would like excess water to enhance, food production would DWARF any gains brought by using the water for fishing and canoeing...

USE that excess water to grow crops to return to the good people of NYC for the water they let the good farmers of Delaware County use!

"This is why NYC should be giving water to farmers"

So you're asking for others? You are a most magnificent, magnanimous, man among men.

Well, thank you.

But it's all about helping out those struggling to make a living in Delaware County... where the rain falls...

I live betwixt the Susquehanna and Unadilla Rivers, about 5 miles away to each.

The D watershed's closest point is some 9 miles away as the crow flies.

Betwixt?

As the crow flies?

This stuff just sounds better coming from a bona fide country gentleman like yourself.

For example, if I were to say:

"I live betwixt the Fisherman's Cove Jerk Chicken Shop and the Dunkin' Donuts, five minutes as the crow flies from the Midwood Yeshiva and Hamza collision repair"

it just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I've actually noticed that the few produce items I buy that come from CA have gone up signifigantly

"Country Gentleman"...
I rekon I'm pleased as a possum passin' peach pits to hear ya say that...

Funny thing is, "Country Gentleman" is just my online persona...

My friends and I normally go around using an urban dialect...
Angry urban...

We just turn on the "Country Gentleman" when we're online or when touristy fisher folk are around.
