Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Lamson Konic K2

LyNcH

Dries, wets, nymphs and streamers...it's all good!
Well I have ventured into buying my first Lamson reel. I have only heard good things about them and need a new reel and spool in that size. They are on sale for a killer price on MRFC. $146 shipped for both. Can't hardly get a Battenkill 5/6 with spool for that price, which is a silly standard arbor heavy reel!

I'll post some pics and initial thoughts when it comes next week.

Anyone else have one of these?

Same as you looking into gettin a Lamson. Interested how you feel after getting it.

Now why do we need to go ripping on Orvis? The Battenkill reel is a classic, has well stood the test of time, and let us not forget the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Orvis has donated to stream restoration through the sale of their products. When Golden Beetle donated the small cup of coffee to Simms at the 1st Steelhead bash he donated more than Lamson has toward stream restoration. FYI, Orvis donates 5 percent of it's PRE TAX profits to conservation annually. Enjoy the reel.....Maybe on one of the streams Orvis paid to help restore....you boob......

I dont own a Konic, but I have 2 Guru's (2.0 & 3.5) and orvis BLA/Hydros dont even come close in quality.. I beat the living shit out of my Guru 2.0 this year, for a few months I fished almost EVERY day after work if the neversink was fishable. Still looks brand new and the drag is as smooth as it was the day I purchased it.

I have the Konic 2 and 1.5 and also an Orvis BBSII. I love them all, but the Konic's moving bits are better. The click sound is nicer on the Orvis and it's machined, but the Lamson looks nice in its own drab way. People say the Lamson's drag is better but even with the big wild trout I catch, I've hardly used either. Get the Lamson!

Easy Mr. Orvis Stockholder. I would dare to venture that I have far more Orvis reels than you, so relax.......it's ok to try something different once in awhile. You should give it a try next time your Orvis waders leak. Talk about a boob!

BTW, the Battenkill 5/6 was my first reel and I still use it on a regular.

I've tried Lamson in the past, and after I witnessed Beetles Konic busting apart on a chrome dome last fall and go tumbling down the river bed, Ill never be buying one. Recently I demoed the K2 and both times I've sliced my Sharkskin in HALF! The reel foot is extremely sharp and god for bid your line get wrapped around the foot during a snap-T or double spey...SLICE.

I'm sure one could sand the corners off or maybe I'm just a SHITTY caster, either way, Ill put my Torques and NV's up to ANY reel, especially the lame-son any day.

I wish I had better luck with them as they are a pretty sexy reel and the drag was decent.
