Halloween - Last big Musky riparian planting of the year!

Please come out in support of TU's Ernie Schweibert chapter who is spearheading our last big riparian (tree and shrub) planting of the year. Work date is Saturday, October 31st beginning at 9 am. We will be meeting at the Hughesville site, across from the old Fiber Mark paper mill which is where Cyphers Road and Willow Lane meet in Holland Twp. (Hunterdon county). These roads are on the south side of county road 627 which is also known as Reigelsville Warren Glen Road. For you GPS users, it's 10 Mill Road, Milford, NJ which is the mill itself and we'll be across the street. We are planting across the two roads (Cypher and Willow) and along the river where the grass is currently mowed right to the river bank. TU will have all necessary tools, just bring your selves and lend a hand before you give out candy that evening. We used a lot of non-TU volunteers for most of our work days this year and this will be our last big work date of the year. You do not have to be a TU member to help out!

I'll be there....

Good, because I'll be late:). I have a youth pheasant hunt at 8 am and then will head south as soon as that is done, but I've left the plantings in good hands with members of our E. Schweibert chapter. You'll all see my ugly mug before the plantings are done...

:bump:

Tomorrow is the big day. Just a friendly reminder. We begin at 9 am. Beers at the Warrenside Tavern afterward? Then plenty of time to get your kiddies or grandkiddies out for Trick-or-Treat:)

Hollywood, I was just checking in on youur latest posts, and notice that you aleays seem to want to help people, but, of coirse, whebever they ask, you are "busy" with other commitments.

I thoink it is time for you and I to compete ina a manly competiton. First, I will kick youir ass in judo. Theb I will outfish your sorry ass on the river of your choice. And last, I will outdrink your sorry ass at the bar of your choice.

To compete fair and square in judo, and to avoid any unnecessary injuries to me, you will demonstrate your judo skills on, say, coolkyle or drossie the half monkey, half human.

How's that sound, hollywood?

GB - you have no idea what you are talking about. Can't speak for Hollywd's judo skills, but he's got 500:1 odds on the other two. He gives huge time to TU, unlike yourself who mentioned an appearance at the Horton Brook plantings but was a no-show. BTW - he's out of town and can't defend himself until next week.

But enough fooling with internet superheros. For anyone feeling guilty about not being able to make it tomorrow, I'm letting you all off the hook. Looks like we'll have plenty of help. Flows looked real nice for fishing, so bring your rods and explore the lower Musky, you may be very pleasantly surprised! Or just bring a few bucks and enjoy a cold beer and warm burger at the Warrenside Tavern afterward. I'll be the one late to the plantings so go ahead and get started without me:)

Thanks in advance to all who helped and to DC who lets me post this dribble on his site!

Rusty spinner: I have challenged hollywood to a judo battle royale, and hollywood went on vacation AFTER he read my challenge? Is that what you are telling me? He ran away from me?

So here is my challenge. Before I actually agree to a judo contest with hollywood, he must demonstrate his judo skills on, say, hoolie the poo pic poster. After hollywood verifies that he is, indeed, worthy of my challenge, I will compete with him in judo under the rules I establish prior to competition.

As to my failure to show up at horton brook, I am sorry. I am training in judo and judo is my thing right now, along with sewing, nitting, and fly tying.

Rusty and I loaded up my pickup with plantings Friday night and dropped off 100 trees and bushes at the site late Friday evening. We returned to our nursery at the Hackettstown Hatchery reloaded the truck with about 125 additional plants for Saturday. Saturday morning Agust and I attached the North Jersey Resource and Developement trailer to the truck and brought down the plants and tools to the IPP property. When we got there a little after nine most of the planting form Friday night were already planted by the 27 volunteers that showed up. Everything was planted, the grounds policed by 10:45.

Thanks to all the showed up and gave their time for this project.

It was this weekend?

Oh wow... missed out.

That's OK, AK, I can come up with a few more plantings this fall. Just PM me your schedule so I can work around it:):)

Thanks again for all who showed! Wish I could have joined you all. Mrs. Rusty Spinner is getting better but still feels like a train wreck. But she's tough - after all, she married me!

Had a feeling you were going to be a no show.

I only show up to such things if the media is going to be there
and you need someone to stand in front of the cameras and
receive the thanks from a grateful nation.

As always, I never do anything unless there is heaps of glory in it for me.

PS
Hope the Mrs. is doing well this morning.

Obviously a success.

I went fishing in the delaware water gap and got a wild rainbow and a brook trout.

I will, however, give up a weekend for planting some day, I promise.
