Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Favorite fly fishing magazine

I like The Drake when I'm in the mood for it. Personally, I learn more from all you dorks than I ever have from some lame magazine.

American Angler is ok. But I dropped it cause it started getting away from trout fishing.

Fly Fishermen is better. I won't renew it when my subscription expires. Not many articles that interest me. Usually only 1 per issue.

Actually I like Trout (Trout Unlimited) the best. Lots of good trout fishing articles. It keeps me abreast of the issues with mining, dam removal, etc. Occasionally I see a face in it that I know. Regular articles about trout fishermen from the past. Very few advertisements. And great trout and fly pics.

mid atlantic fly fishing journal, its free and covers are area an beyond ,

Sticking to to fly fishing, I would say American Angler, with Fly Fisherman and Eastern Fly Fishing close behind. All of these magazines have issues where there are only a couple of articles that interest me, but occasionally there is an exceptional issue where I read 2/3 of the articles.

By far my favorite "fly-fishing related" magazine is Fly Tyer.

Couldn't agree more with your pick Pat.
I used to get several others but by far Fly Tyer is the only one I find any use for.
And as far as any other info I need, I can get it from the Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing Journal.

My favourite has lots and lots of pictures.

If I get one and it has a lot of words I don't bother with it.

Same for books.

I second the This is Fly suggestion. Great for the younger crowd who aren't Orvis'd up from head to toe. Not to mention it has some kick ass articles (and sound track).

HA! younger crowd!
I'm older than Mark Martin, and old enough to have actually seen Cream in concert....:finger:

That's my favorite online mag. "This is Fly" is definitely not my style.

Some of the stuff in The Drake is good and I'll buy it if I'm at a bookstore that sells it, but I don't go out of my way for it.

I read Fly Fisherman, due to a perpetual subscription that never seems to run out, American Angler, Fly Rod & Reel, Eastern Fly Fishing, & Trout, the last two being my favorites. Trout still has my vote for best cover (the tail photo from a while back).

I've glanced through a few of the British mags in B&N, also.
