No, not the Donald but Dazzling Jeweled Trout.
Spending the last few weeks wet wading many of the wild trout streams within 2 hours drive in both NJ and PA. The fishing has been superb for wild browns and brookies when I can catch the day after one of the many rain storms we have been getting. But you only have one day of good fishing after a heavy rain before the small creeks once again drop to where the fish seek refuge under rocks and all you see is wakes in the shallow pools swimming away as you approach.
Here are a couple brook trout from this past Saturday with the hot fly being the Ausable Bomber.
I normally don't see too many of these this time of year, but the moist ground must be keeping them active. The Red Spotted Eft.
The Cardinal Flower among other wild flowers have been quite extensive this year.
And the numerous rain events have burst the forest floor with many variations of the fungus family.
And the general scenery is almost enough to make a fishing trip worth while.
