Lots of Rain and I had a 16" snow pack that's melting off very fast.
Should calm down in a couple of days.

If you look at these peak flow rates for some of the past few years...

2003 Mar. 22, 2003 12,000cfs
2004 Sep. 18, 2004 17,500cfs
2005 Apr. 03, 2005 21,500cfs
2006 Jun. 28, 2006 43,400cfs
2007 Mar. 27, 2007 8,320cfs

2009, so far is pretty calm...

We don't need days, it's already happening...

Confused by your post. The Stilesville gauge and Hale Eddy gauge are going up. Take a look

FF's gauge was height and tk's is cfs. But you would think they would both be going in the same direction ?
Just thought of something. FF was useing the gauge in walton above the resevoir.Tk's in in stylesville below the resevoir.
That could be the difference. As long as we don't have another 2006 everythings alright.

Yeah, my gauge was Walton. This is a measure of what is going IN to the reservoir. Given that there has been mild weather(and no hard freeze) it points to the fact that the melting snow is about gone. With the rain drying up, the flows into the reservoir are already going DOWN. Although there is a lag in the timing of the dropping of levels coming OUT of the reservoir, with the drop in what is going in, it will shortly mean a drop at Stilesville. And compared to many of the years past, the spring melt-off this year seems quite tame.

If the current conditions continue and little to no rain occurs I would expect early hatches and low water by early May....At that point you can predict that the Soap Opera that plays out on this board every year will once again be featured prominently.

The two day spikes are from the rain storms and the melting snow. Over 3000 cfs
is very high. Don't understand your comments Macfly about low water conditions.

Hi Guys,

I may as well start the soap opera off early!!!

The release went back up and then Cannonsville started spilling, that is why it went up well after the rainstorm and will now slowly go down.

It has been a good winter for the rivers up here. Lots of flow.

Still trying to convince the powers that be to release more of this spill the summer before it spills!!!

Jim

Gary, as I have tried to point out... The levels we're seeing NOW are not VERY HIGH for this time of year. AND the snow is gone. I'd be agreein' with ya' if we had over 3000 in May. I believe(correct me if I am wrong) what Macfly might be trying to say is that IF the snow is now gone AND "little to no rain occurs" that there WILL BE low water conditions and hatches will be early. I'm not saying I agree... but...

Maybe Big_Spinner can enlighten us all (for the umpteenth time) what we can expect in terms of upcoming mandated releases from the Water Lords.
