Afghanistan Comes Home to NEFF

AKSkim

Boston - Title Town USA
Typical Monday morning on NEFF, reports will be coming in from this weekends fishing exploits on unnamed wild PA trout streams.
Future Fanatic out feeding his lama early this morning as usual, all the while keeping an eye out for any unexpected standing water littering his crater.

Fully expect to see that MacFoole and Trouser Trout playing footsy in the shout box for most the day.

Rahway River TU members will be posting and getting ready for the up coming fly tying nights, to monthly meetings with Golden Beetle working hard to get people to join RRTU, and Jake to get more interested in tying flies.

What fly rod should I buy, what reel to go with it, what is the best waders out on the market, where can I get it the cheapest, is the new fish nets really worth the money … the standard and typical questions that are the core of this board will be asked once again.

Of course what kind of strike indicator I should be using or not use will weigh heavily on my mind sometime today.

Then there is SIMMS who has been working hard on his November Steelhead trip, destroying personal property out on some stream in the mean time.

As the morning begins to wain I hope BRK TRT will post a fishing report of some small trout stream and his suggestion on what I should think about having for lunch today.

Biggest and best news of the weekend on the board was the birth of the MacFly’s twins, by all reports everyone is doing fine.

But the start of this week my thoughts are on the 3,969th day of the war in Afghanistan and a good friend of ours is just starting another tour in a war zone for all of here at home.

Leaving behind his wife of less than a year, family, friends, and the goodly number of Steelhead that will not have sore lips because of him.

It wasn’t all that long we were fishing in the GSMNP, or from his drift boat up on the Salmon River, discussions about going back into the services, my belief that he has already served his country, to conversations the past few months about decisions that will have to be made when he reaches the HUMP, Tri-Care and other medical benefits, pension plan and proposed changes, and a dozen other topics that a military man has to make within the next few year that will have a lasting and far reaching effect.

Yes, it wasn’t all that long ago that he was tearing up the Little River and Salmon River, environments that he fit into with ease.

Now his days are filled with doing his duty and trying to stay alive in a war zone.

What a weekend, the birth of two babies, and the deployment of a good and trusted friend over seas.

Yes today Christopher Tobias is back in the breech in Kandahar, Afghanistan, may God watch over him and keep him safe.

Maybe not a typical Monday on NEFF after all.

Just 362 and counting.

A very thoughful and appropriate thread for a great guy.

Thank you Chris for laying it all on the line for us. I look forward to your return and having a dip in the lip with you.

God bless you and the USA.

Fear not god, fear god's followers; as if not for them, we wouldn't be where we are now.

I don't wish god upon anybody. He has plans to see you or someone else get hurt or even die (says so right in the bible).

Now that we have that out of the way, I wish you a successfull trip and a safe return. Thank you for your service.

CT, kick some terrorist ass over there. Watch your buddies back, watch your back, and come home in one piece.
