Somerset Fly Fishing Show 2011

AKSkim

Boston - Title Town USA
Well the show begins in less than 24 hours from now.

I have just finished reviewing all the seminars, speakers, featured fly tyers, casting demonstrations, and
destination theater presentations and developed a plan of attack for the next two and a half days of this years show.

I learned my lesson last year when after one seminar I didn't feel like moving AK Best was up next, and even
though I have listened to the man many-a-time I just figured what the heck.

That to me was the highlight of last years show.

Just goes to prove if you want to learn, just pay attention and be willing.

NEFF's own Aaron Jasper will be there tying and giving a presentation of Nymphing 101.
Safe to say he will have copies of his new DVD for sale also.

NEFF's own Mike Valla will also be on hand to sign his book

I may be there on Saturday, weather permitting.

Brk Trt

I will be there Saturday and Sunday.

For Ak, Brk Trt, ronbo and perhaps a few others, I will be with a friend.

We will be drinking, smoking, and casting bamboo rods.

I didnt mean to leave anyone out, but as I am the forum loser, it's hard to imagine that many others would want to meet me.

I went to the show after class today. It was pretty cool I sat in on two seminars; "euro nymphing" with George Daniel was cool I picked up a few new pointers. Matt Grobert's seminar was real cool too. I'll be there tomorrow as well with the girlfriend to buy some tying materials and see a few more speakers.

Anyone recommend any seminars or interesting presentations? What about some good deals?

im jealous i was really looking forward to going down and meeting a couple of you knuckle head and putting a face on these big egos
have a good time

Hope to see you guys there today. We are across from Tightlines Fly Shop. It was s great day yesterday. We have a show special on the DVD. Come see us!

I was at the show yesterday. Good crowd. Had a nice chat with an adorable girl who has the same first and middle name as my littlest daughter - inspired by the prettiest fish in the country :) She sells the books when you first enter the floor.

I sat in on a few seminars, bought a few dozen flies, two dozen more awesome stones from Rob's Realistics. My primary purchase was a new pair of Korker Chrome wading boots. I predict these boots will become the number one boot above Simms, Orvis and everyone else. I'm not typically a fan of devices that let you 'switch out things' - but I figured if anyone could get it right it would be Korkers. I still have the first pair of Korker carbide overboots I got for ice fishing. 30 years old. The boots come with two sets of bottoms. Straight Felt or Rubber. Two boots in one. I also bough additional bottoms - felt studded and rubber studded! Four pairs of boots in one. Truley. They also have some kind of special expensive felt that is ok to use in didymo. The guy said there $50 and you throw them away after a few months. Awesome but over my disposable income!
