Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Reed Tackle

I bought a flyrod blank from them 30 yrs ago and they said they were moving to PA.

Yes I got an answer on another board "NJ Trout"
I bought my first fly tying supplies there 30+ years. I had been there since but I didn't know what happened to the shop. I stopped tying flies when my first kid was born. Shes 18 now. If you do a web search you find antique mail order catalogs.
I all so shopped at Newark Sinker.

Reed's closed quite a few years ago. I bought my first blank from them (spinning), as well as some parts to make lures from. For what it is worth, I just checked the Internet, and someone is selling a 1967 Reeds catalog - so I guess that tells you a lot right there.

Reed Tackle moved from Route 46 in Fairfield to what I believe is Marshalls Creek, Pennsylvania many years ago. I unexpectedly found their new location while exploring for access to the creek itself. The kids inherited the business upon the death of their father (John Reidmiller) but never struck me as good businessmen; they didn't keep up with the times. For example, when genetic necks came on the scene they refused to carry them. I think the value of their property also was instrumental in them selling and moving. In spite of their large retail and wholesale following, Reed Tackle is no longer in business. The memories of their Silaflex and Rino rod blanks, and the Reed Tackle name itself, have become a part of our fly fishing history.:)

I used to buy rod blanks, tying supplies and lure parts there as well. Newark Sinker is still in it's original location and is still a great place to go.

do you or anyone else know where reed's got there paint. We used to buy it many years ago and I to the loft. It we used it on letterhead jigs and we put it in the oven to bake it. If anybody has any information please contact me either on here or send me a e-mail
bhcatfish2@gmail.com . Also, if you know of the manufacturer of the paint would help out a great deal . We are a manufacturer of jigs and flies also plastic baits.
