Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

real cdc

Question for the pro tyers. It was my understanding that the CDC is what did the floating. Why hackle the fly if you are using CDC?
Because it looked pretty....I find cdc gets wet quickly in rapids and riffles and then is hard to dry. The Hackle.may help it stay floating in rougher water. Maybe, perhaps, ask a pro, not me😁

Here is another one. A loop winger
bwo olive emerger size 18.

Listen, I'm just trying to help a brother with his photo setups. Davie would never post a shot with spools of like color thread to fly color in the background of the shot.
Unless you did it intentionally to hide any defects...

Have to help my real cdc brother out here. We like to hackle flies because the feathers are very cool. But sometimes you don't need them.

egg laying cdc grannom.jpg

egg laying cdc grannom with cdc body and underwing, some teal flank legs, a little bit of short deer hair overwing and a black head

I agree with that, I just can't let go of the teal legs because I shot the teal. But next on the list is a caddis pupa like you have described that has worked well for me. Now let's see something from you there Finite, I know you can do this. I'm a disciple of the hack job school of fly tying, so if I can post a picture with a straight face, you can too.

I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
I go to the lavatory
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea

On Tuesdays, I tie flies....

Here is a Sulphur emerger. GregS cdc is the first wi g, second is a white cdc puff...but not "the real stuff"...it's just from the local fly shop.

Those are some nice looking flies there Lightenup. A great looking sulfur and I really like the quill body on #2. Need a snow goose for the white stuff.....How about a Hendrickson emerger?

Finite, I quit that job, now I sling Tacos with my wife in a store and in our taco trailer. I'd say the name but I don't want to upset Cabarle and get free advertising to 6 people.

Nice work LU. You keep this up and i might send you some more cool feathers. I'm a fan of the cdc wing on a hackle fly, I think they work as well as anything else.

Send me you address, I will tie some of those smoke jumper midges for the sbr for you. I have had stubborn fish eat them when they wouldn't eat anything else.

I'll accept that offer. We will catch many, many fish this year. And very large ones no doubt.
