I'll never grow tired of fishing my favorite water. With every set back it keeps coming back stronger than ever. Today was an impressive hatch of Hendricksons , Blue Quills and a blanket of caddis in a size 18 to start the day. It was beautiful day to be on the water for sure a light breeze and a high of 52 ,the water made it to about 45 degrees a bit chilly but it didn't deter the fish. Or at least the ones that I know personally.

I was going to wait to fish Arrons fly rod till I got up to the Catskills but couldn't hold off. I took it for a stroll on the water I love here at home. And if Aaron was watching which I'm sure he was he was grinning ear to ear. I walked the banks in search of rising fish and finally found some coming up steadily to the hendrickson hatch .
I sat for a moment to watch the action to be sure I spotted all the fish working in the area and picked the closest target to work first so as not to put the whole pool down. While waiting I tied on a size 14 hendrickson and dried it up. Then moved into position to make a cast , measured it out and sent the first cast to the wind landing perfectly in line to drift over the trouts last known address. As it reached the area I saw a wake heading for the fly a large head came out of the water and the fly disappeared. Lifting the rod gently the line came tight and it was off to the races with my first big fish of the year on a dry fly. This set the tone for the day as fish after sweet fish came to hand . It was truly an extraordinary day on the water. And one that with out a doubt will never soon be forgotten . That Tom Morgan Favorite has some special power I'm sure is due to it's original owner Aaron Hirschhorn. Today was for you Aaron I hope I did you good and made you smile!!

It is appearing to be a normal hatch season. Something we have not had in a few years. I am looking forward to see how the rest of the hatches turn out. Very nice fish BC. Heading to the Resica Falls next week I hope I do as well. Keep your line tight.

Nice Allen! I'll have to get over there. I'm unencumbered by work right now and have time to hit those afternoon hatches. Heading to the Neversink tomorrow.

I sat by the phone all day waiting for you to call and invite me. Sometimes the lonely-ness is unbearable but I get by. Thats ok, I am still waiting for DC to send me my fly line that I rightfully won. I am used to disappointment from NEFF.

We had a great day. Alllen never mentioned your name once to me or I would have called you...probably...maybe...not:)

ohh now i understand why he did not call. With the two of us on each side of you catching fish and weaving a tapestry in the air with our fly lines would have made you feel inadequate and unskilled all day long. He is a nice guy to consider your feelings.

Nice fish Allen, those are some good looking brownies and pretty big for where I think u were fishing. A nice way to break in the new rod no doubt.

Dlucer Allen said he didn't want to have to keep getting your flies out of the trees you boob. This was highly technical fishing in water over your head(3ft deep). No floaties allowed.

Thank you guys ! One thing is for certain the drought last year didn't get all the trout . It sure was nice to see that fish of this quality survived it shows the holding power of this stream. Dluver you are more than welcome to come along just wasn't sure that you like to fish in crowds.. :)

Dont worry Al. DLUVER fishes at the "go fish pay lake" all the time. He has pellet flies in nymph, emerger, dun, and spinner patterns so he is all set:)

BHC needs to fish with me, so I can take the wind out of his sails and bring him down to my level.

I have fished with him, and he is already down to your level. He wanted to drag me down the slippery slope with him and told me there is no need to have your waders and vest dry cleaned and pressed each year. To that is say hooey! I refuse to lower my standards. He even went so far as to suggest I should not wear a tweed jacket and hat while on stream. Remember, to look good is to fish good

Hey Allen, There's only one place I know of that has a strain of brownies that yellow, but they usually aren't that big there. Either you're transplanting fish now or you're holding out on me. We gotta hook up soon.

Cdog

Cdog long time sir glad to see you back on board ! Yes we'll have to catch up it's been a while since we fished ! I'll be up in the Catskills this weekend will be tying at the Fly Tyers Rendezvous over at the Roscoe House this Saturday .

See you there Allen. I'll be floating the West Branch Friday, hittting the Rendezvous in the AM, and maybe hitting some private water in the PM. Even though I'm now a bum, need to keep up appearances.

I'm bringing the boat so it is there for the season not sure if I will float or wade this weekend we'll see. Regardless we'll see you there Jeff !
