The Hatchery dumps quite a bit of cold water out, keeping temps in the river pretty reasonable for trout fishing for a couple of miles. Expect more company the closer you are to the hatchery outflow.
My advice is stop a Hot Dog Johnnies for a late lunch, and fish anywhere upstream of there.
If you plan to fish the Big D for smallies, the glides by King Cole up to Washburns are easy to get to and wadeable. There will be fish everywhere, but they are more active as dark approaches. Below the boat launch in Belvedere is also good, but wading is a bit trickier, usually more luck with spinning gear there.

Thats what I heard about the temps there so I thought it would be ok to fish it. Was in a private section of the Musky the other day and the temp was 66 at 4pm.
Where is Hot dog johnies? On 46?
Will pickup some flies for the evening fish from Tight Lines.

The Pequest should be fine to fish right now. Go for it. Temps should be in the low 60s. The cold nights should make it great.

Thanks for the replys. found a nice pool with 20-25 fish lined up feeding on the bottom.
Water temp was 62 at 4pm. Some rises but could not see what they were taking. I couldn't get in a good position to not spook them when presenting the flys and could not get the right nymphs down to them. They were at about 4 1/2 feet in a channel. was a blast just watching them feed. Learned alot last night.
Had 3 spin casters mad because they wanted to fish that hole. oh well:rofl:
