So I've been reading this thread over on GST and have to say, people are strange. Running a website like this for so many years has taught me a great deal about people and how they behave. If you guys think fly fishing requires a degree in entomology, try running a website! You'll require a degree for each individual who walks through the door. This really is a tough sport!
People LOVE free speech, as long as you're not talking FREELY about them! People love when they find others who share a common point of view and when they find someone who doesn't share the same point of view, they will have their way with them and eventually one of the parties will leave (survival of the fitest (Not the fattest, i.e... KLG Neighbor)). Now of course there is something more to this. I didn't create the site to see who is the fittest. I created it for people to come and share information and of course for the entertainment aspect of things. For this I will apologize. I feel that people are still entitled to their opinions about other people and I think it's fair game to post your opinions. Take a guy like NJAngler. He's annoyed that when he comes here, people will remember him for his actions. He fishes with treble hooks and in my opinion is purely a numbers guy. He can tell you how many fish he's caught each day for the past 20 years. So for someone to come on the site and post their opinion about him... well, I have no problem with that. On the other end, I don't have an issue with him coming on here and posting about how he feels about people (should he choose to do so). I don't have an issue with NJAngler, I have an issue with his tackle and I don't care for the fact that he posts that he caught X amount of fish in X amount of minutes. BUT, he's entitled to post about it.
Of course when there is a disturbance within one of the parties, I'm expected to jump in and become a babysitter and when I don't jump in, I'm labeled as the guy who's sleeping with the enemy! Incredible, one day they want free speech and the next day they want babysitter. Isn't that some shit!
Well, for those people who decide that free speech isn't for them after all, I go out of my way to provide an ignore button and what do they do? They still complain! Why? The #1 answer is.... "but they'll still be talking about me".
I of course love reading the comments regarding NEFF on another site, I'll take the good with the bad. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Let me share a few remarks as to what their saying.
Did I leave anyone out? Ohhhhh yeah!!! How could I forget about this moron!
Well, that's all I'll say about her.
I just love how so many claim that we don't talk about fishing yet on the front page of this site, there are 125 threads most of which talk about fishing.
I think 1 person did say it best thought...
I love when they talk about us over there. The reason I keep going back is to see what they're going to say next about NEFF.
I really enjoy guys who come to this site and put something in their profiles like, "I'm not posting here anymore", like anyone really gives a shit!
Sure we've lost some talent over on NEFF but not all of it. I don't like losing users to other sites. I spend quite a bit of time trying to keep this site up to date with the latest and greatest software and I spend quite a bit of cash on that software, as well as on hosting fees every year. To see a guy like JeffK go, gets to me.
Running a website isn't the easiest thing, especially if you befriend two people who don't like each other. Both parties feel they are entitled through your friendship, that you should go out of your way for them on the site. Party A wants Party B banned and party B wants the same for Party A! So who do we side with? Neither. Whoops... I just lost two "friends". Banning is of course just one instance of what would be expect from me as a "friend".
Then you have users who ask me to ban them! These people are the best! I mean... You don't call a radio station and ask them to erase them from your dial, do you? You don't call TV stations and ask them to cancel their channels from your line up, do you? Of course not, so why ask me? If you don't like it here, the solution is simple, leave and don't come back.
There are some people on this site whom I really admire. RyanR, TomPG, Future Fanatic, and the list goes on. Here are a few guys who voice their opinions, take some heat and critisism, but still continue to use the site in a way they find suits them best. They don't let people intimidate them and scare them off the site because of a difference in opinion. I might not agree with them on every issue but they are smart enough whereas they don't let the bullshit get in their way of their enjoyment of the site.
I wonder who won the bet over on GST (how long will it take carbaly to respond to the thread).
The bottom line while you're on this site... Not everyone is going to agree with everything you have to say. Not everyone is going to be happy with everything that is posted here. Too bad. If you can't find the perfect site, CREATE YOUR OWN SITE AND RUN IT THE WAY YOU WANT TO SEE A SITE RUN! So simple, isn't it?
April is just a few months away. Hendricksons and wind on the Mainstem are soon to come. The Hendrickson hatch is probably my favorite to fish. It signals the start of the season for me.
This past weekend I took a few pictures of the beaverkill and the Willow. I'll post those pictures to this thread as soon as I'm done editing them.
Take care, and enjoy the site.

GST User Joe Panella said:That board has very little inof anymore and too much babyshit.
Hey, that would be me he's talking about and this is Saxton falls. I don't see anything "ridicul"ous about this scene! Looks like hungry lions in Africa to me but hey... That's just my opinion!GST user JWright said:But someone on that website would sometimes post pictures of Catskill locals and then make fun of them online -- ridicule is a much better word for what was going on.
Also, that same individual would travel around New Jersey on opening day and take pictures of various things happening (such as the Saxon Falls circle) and post them. Some of those things were, indeed, funny. But the mean-spirited comments accompanying those photos were way out of line.
GST user Rollcast said:Mean-spirited is the perfect description. Notice there are very few repeat new posters there. It's just not a friendly place.
Well, this is a fly fishing site!GST user NJAnger said:i don't post often but when i do, a select few are quick to remember i fish spinners too and never let me forget it.
"some people"? Like who, AKSkim? I'm pretty sure he's the only one here who has had anything to say about GST. Who else would he be talking about?GST user MikeRut said:Im not saying this is a bad thing, but some people over there act like their site is so much more elite than GST.

Two people who have chosen to bypass this site for something that fits them better.By all means, post at NEFF and enjoy it if that's your thing.
