I am planning my first fly fishing trip to the Delaware in mid-Sept. and I'm looking for some places to try.

Any help would be appreciated. Happy to trade info on fishing the Farmington.

Nekayak,

Call or Stop by the Delaware River Club (Delaware River Club) and tell them NJFred sent you there.

The manager, Jeff White, or others will be happy to point you the right direction and give you some tips for fishing the system.

If you can afford it, you might hire a guide ths first day. This will help you get down the steep learning curve on the system quickly.

Or better yet, review the thread "wb Fri Aug 3rd" to find out all the locations, tackle, parking spots and photos of the dozen or so 25-30 inch trout taken hourly from the river.

Or go to eelweir's web site for all the up to the minute info. at ww.dailywestbranchreportwithphotosandmaps.com

If you do go and visit any of the fly shops in the area, just mention my name. Won't get you any where, but it would be a nice thing to do anyway.

As always, more than willing to help.

If you're new to the D, you had better check with the "Emperors of the Delaware" to see if it is ok to go, you may need to enter into the fishing lottery to earn a spot if you're from out of town. If you pass the rigorous qualification process (casting more than 20 feet) please remember not to take a camera or to bring a companion, they don't like crowds or photos:)

I will put this up for you guys who think the ENTIRE DELAWARE SYSTEM is your private water.... if you want to fish by yourself here is where you need to go The Spring Ridge Club It's 2007 if you want to fish alone .... pay for it. If you guys think the web is responsible for crowding that river think again. Look at all of the articles, books and other publicity that it has gotten.

Besides... this guy was looking for help and all he got was some BS good job guys. I am sure that is what Denis wants on his website.

Whoa... JA
First of all lad you need to catch on your current events... concerning Spring Ridge Club.

As I sit and ponder my next gem... I seem to recall some of your posts.
I say there lad you are in NO position to be casting that first stone. What so-ever.

Third, and this is important.. chill out. You have proven once again you have the skin as thick as an onion. Learn to hide it...

As always, willing to assist any zealot anytime.

Where will you be staying? In September, the Mainstem should be fishing well and most of the pressure on the West Branch will be gone. The East Branch (Shhhhh.... nobody knows about this branch just yet) should also be fishing really well, but keep that under tight wraps.

Since you don't know the area too well, it will be a bit difficult to tell you exact locations but check back here right before you head over to the D and let us know. If I'm around, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Places to fish may vary, depending on the water levels, so it is hard to predict in advance what are the best places to go. Any place on WB down rt 17 starting from Deposit down should be worth trying. As suggested above, stop by one of the fly shops in the area, and they will make some good suggestions that should save You some time. They have access point maps as well.
You will need BWO patterns, light cahills, slate drakes, probably some caddis patterns as well. Terrestials too.

gh,

no no no its not the emperors of the Delaware, we are the "Jedi Knights of the D" :alien: here to restore order and bring back a balance to the system..the dark side has grown strong...:guns:

OMG..... Soon we sill see The DRC selling bottles of "The Force". Dip you fly in this mysterious concocction and rising Delaware fish WILL move 6 inches to one side to eat your fly.

There will be special edition series of Loomis' out. They will "light up" when one presses a button.

Lydia will dress up as Princess Leah.

Jeff White will sling a pistol off of his build wear, wear a black vests and sport an 80s hair cut ala Hans Solo.

Joe T will get shorter. His ears will sprot further from the side of his football head and he'll fish naked.

Dennis C... will fish blindfolded, also sporting an 80's hairdo, wear something that looks linke lingerie, wave his fishing rod madly about (like Luke SykWalker) and might actually catch a fish!

Finally there will be less crowds on the Delaware.
