My new boo...

My friend just finished me a sweet copy of a Granger 7633 registered rod. Thought Id share it with you all. The pictures I took don't do the boo justice, but you can still get a good look at it..

I was told the Granger numbers mean 7' 6" 3. ounces without the reel seat. And the fourth number listed was the 1/4 ounce weight.

All in all, an absolutley incredible rod, casts like a cannon with 4wt line, feels great in the hand., excellent rod for dry fly fishing. Since I may never be able to acquire an original 7633 Registered but this is the next best thing and I'm loving it...

Just got this in the mail today. A small stream Boo Rod or Mini-Boo if you like

Para-1262, a 2 piece 2 tips, 6.2 ft., 3/4 weight rod, a true Parabolic rod, off set CSE pinned Nickel Silver ferrules, Torpedo cork grip with cork seat custom Nickel Silver cap & ring, has HK, wraps are done in transparent Old Gold tipped Winston Green, comes with soft bag & logo with Aluminum storage tube, a one of a kind rod. Even though It says parabolic I would say its more of a medium action rod. It cast wonderfully on the lawn tonight.

I am pleasantly surprised with this rod. Very nice work and its great to cast for 6.2 foot rod. I know just what stream to break this rod in on.

Hey SneakyPete..mind if I ask who built this rod. It looks awesome.

MACFLY... The Granger 7633 was built by my good friend Jesse in NJ. The Granger blank came from a builder in CO. The one thing I like about Jesse is he used an old vintage Wright Mcgill reel seat on my rod. Even if I purchased a new one from Lacy and Johnson it wouldn't of had the nice reel seat in my book... The ones they use now of days is a slide band. To me it's not the same... and the stripping guide they sometimes use is agate... I like the old vintage looK..

MACFLY ...Sweet looking rod you got.... I want it!!!.. Since I just love small boo rods myself.. I have a 5' 4" 2 piece rod that I just love for small stream fishing. Good look with your new rod..

My 5'4" midge rod... It's nothing special..But love the action of it when fighting a fish...Take a look at it..

Very nice rod and I love the vintage real seat.
Hope you you have many great days on the stream with it.
There's just something magical when your fishing a boo rod.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I liked seeing your rod

Ronbo..Thanks for the kind words... Your 100% right about using the term magical when talking about fishing boo. I just got into fishing boo this April, and man I'm hooked... At first I didn't care for it, but when my friend let me fish his rod for the day I was hooked. And I had to buy it off of him...

That looks it would be fun to fish. I have been reading about the Granger Rods and their history. Found a couple of really good web sites and spoke to a couple of folks about the history in some detail. I hear you about sticking to the original design of the rod all the way down to the reel seat. Its kind of like if it aint broke dont try to fix it. I have a site that shows some mint condition Granger Rods and even shows a register of all the serial numbered rods to date. Kind of surprised Wright & Mcgill arent trying to capitalize on the legend for themselves.

Well with any luck I will be taking delivery of a vintage Granger Victory tomorrow which I was fortunate enough to obtain thru an estate sale last week. Cant wait until it arrives!!!

Good luck with the new boo rod..Go catch some fish.

Congrats on getting that vintage Granger Victory.... If you don't mind can you take some pictures of it and post them? I would love too see the wraps and thread colors they used on that rod...Also is it an 8040??? Thanks..

I guess you got yourself a Granger Victory 8642.. Does it have variegated brown/gold and black wraps???
Also it should have the Grangers standard screw locking nickel silver reel seat made by Wright & McGill USA...
