We have nailed down Saturday, October 9th for our first annual Musky One Fly Tournament after the fall stocking earlier that week. We will convene at the former Cliffdale Inn (now Casia Grill) at 1280 route 57 in Port Murray/Mansfield right along the river at 9 am for pre-tournament orientation and to pick your fishing partner for the day. This is a C&R tourney with first place winning a new fly rod. We are working out minor details, but cost to enter is $100 with all proceeds going directly back into the Musconetcong Home Rivers Initiative for river restoration projects of benefit to all. I realize this cost is not for everyone, but it is for a great cause and your contribution is 100% tax deductible!
If you are interested in competing for bragging rights and your name on a perpetual trophy (likely to be on display at the Pequest Trout Hatchery), please mail a check made payable to New Jersey State Council of Trout Unlimited and mail to: NJTU c/o Rick Ege, PO Box 594, Budd Lake, NJ 07828. You can also email me at <!-- e -->BCowden@tu.org<!-- e --> and pay the day of the tourney, but we'd like to get a rough head count prior to the event.
Contestants will choose their counterpart out of a hat full of your names and be paired with that person for the event to record each others' catches. We will meet back at the Cliffdale Inn/Casia Grill at ? (more on that soon, likely around 5 pm) where our first annual winner will be determined. Details on rules are in final stages and will be announced here well in advance. Please consider coming out in support of TU's efforts on the Musky to remove obsolete dams, restore damaged river channels and stream banks, replant riparian buffers along the river and its tributaries, and preserve critical lands within the watershed of importance to trout. Hope to see you in October!
