Musky flow rate

A Polinger

Just finished a River Runs Through it!
Looks like I should have some free time this week and I am thinking about hitting the Musky, with all this rain is it worth it or is flowing to fast?

Thanks,
AP

I fished it yesterday following our Casting For Recovery women's breast cancer survivor event. Flows were mid 600s and the fish were exceptionally hungry. :)

We are at 580 cfs and dropping, so access to all sections of the river will only get better if it does not rain. I fish this river to about 750 cfs, but at that flow, you need to pick softer spots in the river away from the main flows. Water temps are nice, and BWOs and October caddis should be around if anything is hatching, but Prince nymphs and BH flashback PTs just killed yesterday.

Rusty did you fish these nymphs alone or paired up in a tandem?

Had a weird local storm last night/this morning out in Warren Co. and the Musky is 4000 cfs and rising right now.

It took me 1 1/2 hours to get from Hackettstown to get across the upper South Branch - normally an 8 minute trip. Every road was flooded. Two of the Mine Brook branches were as high as I have ever seen them. Rte 46 was flooded with stalled cars all over complicating things. Drakestown Rd - closed; Naughtright - closed; Springtown Rd - closed. Finally, crossed with no traffic at For Bridges Rd, which was the bad spot for Hurricane Irene. Only one lane was flooded there and the flow peaked at 4.5 feet above flood stage this AM. All across the mountain the floods were more dirt than water and the air smelled of soil and fertilizer. Once across the SBR I saw no problems at all the rest of my commute. All the other streams I crossed were at somewhat normal levels and were clear. One weird morning.

Aren't you guys used to our floods yet? Heck, they've been coming on the average of one per every 10 days for the past month and a half.

:bang::bang::bang:

This year in a nut shell. Snow every other day in January. A brief reprieve in Febuary. It started raining in March, Rained until July. Three weeks of 90 + dregree days. It started raining again in mid August. Two tropical systems and then more rain. So far I have canceled 2 trips to Vermont, another to the Lackawaxen. I am going to try for Vermonnt again in October.Hopfully Noah wont be sailing by.

Happy i went paddling today at the hook and not fishing on the musky.

Good luck with the flooding.

Anything doing at the Hook? Blues or is the water clearing for some Albies. My guess is this rain is pushing too much sweat (and muddy) water out front for Albies this year. I know they're up at Montauk right now where that isn't an issue.

This is killing me. I had a few nice evenings on the musky and a good day on the SB Monday. Was looking forward to the day off today to fish in the morning, grade papers for the day and go back out for sun set.

Now i am just grading papers...

I just looked out my window and remembered a something.

If I see big pieces of debris, specifically a couch and a refrigerator, who can I call to have them picked up? I am especially concerned with the fridge.

Thanks...

The only thing going is I lost my watch. It's now on the bottom of
horseshoe cove.
