MACFLY
Too many streams too little time
I made a quick trip up to the poconos Thursday evening. I managed to get a few weeks ago as well after a 3 day rainy cool spell made the rivers fishable. The 2 trips combined were the first time I fished up there in the summer since 2010. This time last year those rivers were puddles. Going imto this season I was really thinking it was gonna be tough but the fishing has been decent. When I fished a few weeks ago I did so in a steady rain that didn't seem to brother the fish much. I had good success on isos and Cahills fished in the faster water. Thursday night saw an amazing number of bugs on the water. Cahills up to a size 12 but man they looked huge
hebes, small olives, caddis of varying sizes and Isos were all present. The other thing I noticed was how healthy the fish looked. The pic below is of a smallish rainbow but man was he fat. What a difference a year makes. The rivers are in good shape and the cooler weather is really making a difference. Hope it continues
just a beautiful evening on the water. Wish it wasn't getting so dark so early. Fish were still eating!!!
