Too many streams too little time
Hit the stream on Tuesday night since the cooler weather made the fishing viable. It's been a strange spring for me as I didn't get out until 3rd week in May. I expected some impacts from last years drought but I have been pleasantly surprised. While the hatches have inconsistent there are bugs and the fish are overall are in good shape though they tend to wait till the sun is completely off the water before rising with any consistency. Tuesday was an exception as there were lots of bugs and lots of rising fish. Caddies, ISOs, sulphurs, large cahills, & small olives were on the menu along with epic spinnerfall. Isos are my favorite hatch and normally this time of year I can tie on an ISO paraemerger and fish till dark but I had to change up several times as fish were keying on certain bugs throughout the evening. I ended the night with a couple of solid fish on an ISO spinner. The last fish broke me off and st 9:45pm they were still rising while I tried in vain to thread a hot spot ISO spinner on my line. My hat light wasn't bright enough and I had to call it a night. I'm sure I could have fished another hour at least. Not sure I'll get out again as they are calling for a warm up and summer means taking the kids to the lake. I hope the weather is kinder this year and it stays mild and wet. If it does september could see some great fishing.
