It will be worth it when you catch 40 fish a day. And when you catch your first cutthroat. and the view....

Guess you never drove through Chicago in the winter before...
It takes 3hrs to get across Chicago in the summer! That's not counting the long lunch break in....
Gary, Indiana!
What a wonderful name,
Named for Elbert Gary of judiciary fame.
Gary, Indiana, as a Shakespeare would say,
Trips along softly on the tongue this way--
Gary, Indiana, Gary Indiana, Gary, Indiana,
Let me say it once again.
Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana,
That's the town that "knew me when."
If you'd like to have a logical explanation
How I happened on this elegant syncopation,
I will say without a moment of hesitation
There is just one place
That can light my face.
Gary, Indiana,
Gary Indiana,
Not Louisiana, Paris, France, New York, or Rome, but--
Gary, Indiana,
Gary, Indiana,
Gary Indiana,
My home sweet home.

I never intended to be a hijacker. Where are my virgins damn it!

Skipper - you should start at thread on the Yellowstone area as I know many of us have fished it and many others would likely want to know more. In the meantime, I'll have to dig up some photos from my trip last year...

Back to the KLG - one of the most picturesque streams of its size not just in NJ but in the entire Northeast. It has a great holdover trout population and an increasing number of wild trout.

That being said, it is the most heavily fished stretch of water in the State. Expect Cairn's or Hendrickson's Pool type crowd conditions, especially on weekends. If you can take a couple of days during the week (watch out for stocking closure dates) in May it should be worth the trip, and bring your camera.

I live 35-40 minutes from the KLG but fish it only 1-2 times/year because my work schedule rarely allows me out on weekdays.

It is a good stream, but if you do not get there early enough it gets hit hard and fast. Its hard to have any stretch to yourself which is why I tend to stay away from the gorge. I fish it in the winter when pressure is down, but in May I feel that there are many better places to fish due to pressure.
