I was just looking at the 5 day graph for hurricane Katrina. The forcast puts it on the upper delaware watershed just before the Labor Day weekend. It dumped 15 inches of rain in some parts of south Florida. The non tailwater rivers could use some water , but even if it drops 5 to 10 inches of rain over our area flooding could be a concern. At the very least all the area rivers could be blown out for the holiday weekend. At least the reservoirs have been drawn down somewhat so hopefully the dams will not spill over like the last 2 times.

We certainly need some significant precip, but I would be very suprised if we got 5 to 10 inches from this storm. Usually they dicipate a bit by the time they get up here, especially after they make landfall and continue over land until they get here. If it runs the coast until it gets here, that could be a different story. Anything up to 3 or 4 inches would be a good thing, as long as it doesn't come in a couple hour period (a couple days would be good). Also as you say, as low as the reservoirs are, I doubt they will refill from just this storm.

According to this forcast, doesn't look like much. Who knows though. Weather service has a tough time predicting what will happen later today, let alone, 10 days out.

I hope your right. I have a big fishing weekend planned! The best scenario is if she rains partially out down south and comes with intermittent moderate rains. 3 inches over 2 days. Dark and dreary sky with low clouds and not to much wind. Tropical systems are tricky though , so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Whoa! Just checked the 2:00 p.m. update on the NOAA web site. Katrina, after weakening back into a tropical storm over land in south Florida has strengthened into a CAT. 2 with 100 mile per hour winds in less than 1 day. That Gulf water must be hot this year. NOAA prediction is for further strengthening into CAT.3 or major hurricane by tomorrow. NOAA graphics put it in our area Wednesday afternoon.

Too far out to tell at this point...a couple of factors that are in play here:
1) The forcasters keep moving her more west. This morning landfall was well into the FL panhandle. Now it looks like eastern LA. If this strengthens to Cat 4 or higher and hits NOrleans, watch out.
2) Once it gets pulled to the NE, it will be moving very fast. The forecast has it moving from TN at 2pm Tues to West PA by 2pm Wed and that means upper New England by 2pm Th. If it's moving that fast, the amount of rain will be minimal.
My hope is that is slows down or moves west. I'm going to a concert at the Allentown Fair on Wed night and fishing the LL on Thurs. Don't want rain at the concert and don't want a washed out LL the next day.
