Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

How would you fish this spot #2

AKSkim

Boston - Title Town USA
You can choose the season and or fishing conditions as you see fit.

Carp - Bow and arrow.

Salmon - Pitchfork.

Ducks - 8 shot high brass.

Trout - I love to dry fly fish fast turbulant water. Probably start with an Ausable Wulff around #14, Ausable Bomber, Adams Parachute, or a Corndog (deadly hi-floating fly made for me by BRK TRT). I'd start with the closest rock or seam and work them all.

I like to fish the bubble lines or the seam as most call it. After all isn't that the natural conveyor belt for a trout’s food source.

But I also look to fish the dark areas of the bottom if the water is clear with a wet fly or nymph.

The area behind rock where the two current converge, but the past couple of years I have been really going after the trout in front of the rock where that cushion of water allows them just to hold there. The distance up stream of the rock depends on the current flow at the time.

For searching patterns, I follow Corndog's choice of Wulff pattern, a little smaller though, and the greatest fly pattern ever invented, Parachute Adams.<O:p</O:p

I'm with cdog...bushy dry or foam beetle, maybe with an unweighted nymph dropper, all upstream/quartering, behind rocks, over rocks, in seams...every inch of water I could reach...especially under those overhanging branches if there's enough water under them. if nothing else, i'll catch some leaves.

Of all the places I've fished in the world...this is my favorite stretch of river, and that's my son standing in it.

Ak,

1) I would take burtboards to this spot and wait 15 minutes after he shows me all the spots. Then run the most obtruse attractor fly with a dropper 6" behind. Thus catching and breaking off the largest fish I can.

2) I would start by meeting someone who knows the area and getting some good information.

3) I would stumble into this location after a night of drinking and never be able to find it again.

4) I would walk upstream right through all the riffle's and ask the man with the blue hat what he was fishing with and how he was doing.

5) I would take a picture like this and while driving home I would stop at the market and purchase a 2 large fish fillets to impress the girlfriend that I can survive in the wild.

6) All kidding aside sweet location. I would start by watching the water as I prepare my rod. Any consitant rising fish? any flashes? low water I would look for any pockets and seams behind the rocks and work them with an attractor w/ dropper. I would start working the shady area's first from shore to center then work upstream to annoy mr. blue hat.

Hllywd

I seen you fish, so your first five point are moot.

You should change your nick to HllyStealth.

But I liked your first point... finally someone found something useful for Burt to do.

Point 1 plus be able to get in with the chicks... :D

I get it now... why you fish with Burt.

I seen people like you.

Your the type who brings a little puppy to the beach and all the cuties flock to pat the little creature.

this spot looks like it's going to be extremely difficult to launch my pontoon boat out of but I think I can manage

I would take the chair out of my car and set it up along side the stream. I would take out my themometer and check to see if the air and water was in the proper temperature range. While removing my 4wt from the rod case I would watch the water for activity, rigging up, reel, fly line through the eyelets, carefully studying the surroundings, waiting for activity. If I saw any activity I would stealthily creep closer, checking to see if it is the hatch I came to the stream for. Closer and closer....if I had binoculars they would be out at this point. Quietly creeping closer until I can verify.....there it is....the infamous....bikini hatch. It's what makes fishing in a popular fishing area worth while.

Well now we all seen why God put me on the Earth, to guide Hllywd and get him some girls. Now if I'm not mistaken when we went to the South Branch, the spots that I picked out to fish were more productive (3 trout) than where you wanted to fish the South Branch (0 trout)

Getting back ON TOPIC. I love to fish dries regardless but I'd throw on something gaudy and big maybe a big irresistible and a dropper rs2 or small pt. OR I would just use my trusty Adams comparadun in #16 (works everywhere). And if all else failed...well then I failed. I would not resort to calling up the devil and asking for a centerpinning set up to arise from the dirt. This spot is the KLG right.

And CDog is that the Flatbrook. I won't tell where it is but I have an idea (or I'm completely wrong)

I think it IS the Flat Brook. I have been trying to get CDog to give up his secret spots, to no avail. I will have no choice but to ambush him some morning when I have the radio collar and tranquilizer gun with me.

4 no make that 6 guys with electrofishing equipment and 20 guys with a big seine net downstream. Fish fry anyone....

seriously though...summertime with a partly sunny day using a foam beetle and a dropper fished directly upsteam with a curve cast as needed.

Good Call AK...I knew there was something (or nothing) fishy about that. What's funny is Hllywd took me to the spot that you showed him. Can you say conspiracy theory.

I like the puppy idea. maybe I'll have my daughter walk him. Well wait I was always more of a Snake person. Walking around with my sweetheart 6' columbian redtail boa Always got the girls to come over.

The Flatbrook wouldn't have that much fast water even during a flood.

You don't have to call up the devil...you've got my number.

I'm said nothing about the Musky, plenty of fish there. I might be heading up to the BFB this Friday. I talked to Shannon's and they even said that the KLG is getting too warm midday.

If nothing is showing, a #16-18 Fluttering caddis across and downstream, 10-12' leader

Exactly the same as spot #1 except at the end bring forth the holy hand grenade of Antioch. "Thou shall count to 3.Thou shall not count 5 but shall count 2 followed by 3."and just pickup my limit.

Thanks Hllywd.

I would have to check it out but it does not look like the best spot. If I has to fish their I would go with a bead head number 12 prince with a size 16 PH flashback trailer.

I would hit all the pockets fishing upstream and nymphing all the way,

Still I would look for better spots.

There was a reason I picked this photo.

Sometimes on streams like SBR and KLG that see heavy amount of fishing pressure you have to try areas that don't look all that great, and may not be easy to fish.

I fish another area above the Gorge that I have yet to see anyone fish it, I go in there and the fish are small but very agressive. Am I a better fisherman than most, no I think not, but I do like to go and fish places that don't look all that great either.

Burt,

I might be able to hook up with you on the Flatbrook on Friday. What are your plans?
